You didn't take his sarcasm seriously.... Right...??
Regardless of what you think of him as a person and a politician, DeLay was quite proud and quite open about the pork he brought back to the Houston area. It always bugged me that he was so open about it, even though he talked about being conservative.
The fact that his seat went to a Democrat (and that Bush barely won in that area in 2004 - around %55 or so), DeLay was probably going to be facing some stuff competition anyways - his district had some of the faster growing areas, and you had a lot of yankees and Californians moving into there that were definitely taking the area to the left.

take a look at this article in the los angeles times yesterday:
“ex-sen burns is no longer under investigation in abramoff affair”, p. 15.
the democrap media admits that he lost narrowly to a democrap after
the democraps made an issue of his ties to abramoff.
problem: burns was not guilty.

Thanks for your kind reply. DeLay is a good man, and I wish we still had him in congress.
I see nobody comparable.
