Real conservative values such as greed, graft, and improper use of one’s power?

Rush won’t mind, he knows there’s a bit of history here. 1988 the two contenders for the White House (Michael Stanley Dukakis & George Herbert Walker Bush) both came in distant 3rd.

Can anyone say President Dole or President Gephardt?

Another thing Mike has done is triple the sales of tin foil among the members of FR.

Yeps 2 and let's not forget McCain. Sigh. What does this say about tonight when what took place in Iowa was in the best interest of the DNC, John McCain, and Huckabee?

A country run for atleast 4 years by a very liberal president.

If you had been here long enough, you’d know thayt many of us here held our noses and voted for Junior in 2000. Somehow, I don’t think we’ll be doing something like that again in 2008. Your guy is not even as appealing to conservatives as Junior marginally was then.

Nailed it !!!

The angry for Huckabee comes primarily from those who believe what others say about him, instead of what he himself says.

Even liberal Juan Williams said that Huckabee is not the Republican establishment’s candidate, and now that Romney is hurt, they (the Republican establishment) will have to galvanize behind someone else to beat “this upstart back-woods Baptist preacher.”

Why else do you think Rush has been after him? As well as most all the Republican pundits? I mean really, saying “Huckabee is not conservative.” Give me a break! Pro-Life and Pro-Gun are part of the conservative trinity. Where Huckabee loses them is on the third part, that in their minds he is not sufficiently — “Smaller Government” (aka. lower taxes, pro-Liberty, etc.).

I disagree because I have actually read what the man has written. They call them “lies.” And any rational discussion ends there.

The bulk of the Freepers fall into line with the establishment.

I fear the attacks on Huckabee will now begin to really ramp up. It remains to be seen if he can overcome them. The real fear is the party establishment will ultimately alienate the social conservatives with their attacks.

One last note — It is evident by Ed Rollins’s actions lately that Huckabee is running as a party outsider. I hope to God that is NOT true. Because then HE will be the one that divides the party, not the other way around.

Just a couple of facts about Huckabee: "Huckabee said at the Univision Latino TV debate: “If you can get an American Express card in two weeks, it shouldn't take seven years to get a work permit to come to this country in order to work on a farm.” This in response to a question of “what to do with the 12 million of undocumented that already live in the United States?” Huckabee would apparently repeal the 3- and 10-year bars to illegals’ re-entry, for illegals who register during a 120-day period with Homeland Security and temporarily exit the country. They would “face no penalty if they later apply to immigrate or visit” the U.S. He also would reward these lawbreakers (and their law-breaking employers) by allowing the aliens to keep the very jobs they sneaked in and took. As governor, Mr. Huckabee opposed a bill to require proof of citizenship to register to vote. The bill would have also required state agencies to turn in illegals. Huckabee backed issuing drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens. In 2005, Mr. Huckabee was the keynote speaker at the League of United Latin American Citizens, or LULAC, convention in Little Rock. This ethnic grievance group supports mass amnesty for illegal aliens and special rights and benefits for Latinos. Mr. Huckabee told LULAC that “we should accommodate people” who want to come to America from Mexico and other countries, in apparent disregard for the harm caused American workers. He embraced forcing citizens and communities to “recogniz[e] and cheris[h] diversity ‘in culture, in language and in population,’” the Arkansas News Bureau reported. The news report called it an “impassioned speech” that “made it very clear where he stood on the [immigration] issue.” As governor, in his book From Hope to Higher Ground and now, Mr. Huckabee attacks the character of his opponents. He resorts easily to name-calling. This ad hominem tactic is the weapon of choice of Leftists and those in the open-borders movement. The Huckabee side of the immigration issue tries to demonize and vilify its opponents. They seek to shut down a fair and honest debate". http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=24142

Don’t support him in primary, but I’ll be pulling the lever for him next November if he is the nominee.

I like Mike for four reasons.
1. Has a personal relationship with Christ

Ditto.
I’m a Christian first, a conservative second, and a Republican third. Apparently that’s the case with a lot of folks who turned out in record numbers on a cold Jan night to support Huckabee.
I’m glad at heart, because I could never bring myself to vote for Romney or Gulianni. (And unfortunately, Hunter wasn’t in the hunt tonite.)

Fred shouldn’t have taken the liberal position in opposition to constitutional amendments protecting marriage and unborn human life. Thompson didn’t want to support those causes so he lost. Thompson tried to tell us what we were going to get instead of listening to what we wanted.

The perfect response to the previous post, which conveniently left out The Huckster’s atrocious and un-American policy on immigration.

Well, no. Huck plays a 4-string electric bass. One of the easiest instruments. Nothing to brag about. A guitar requires much more skill.

(I know because I can play bass, but not guitar.)

Exactly. Could not agree with you more The argument for Huckeltoon seems to be “pro gun, pro life.” Also, he and his fans can’t stand the heat on his record. His pardon record is as bad as slick Willy’s. If he isn’t going to be strong on immigration ... what will he be strong on? As for this evangelical pastor - I fear we might need to look ahead to the mid-year elections in 2010 and the next pres election in 2012. Sigh ...

I agree, this is a sad commentary on the state of this country and the voting public.

I wonder if they will still be as happy after SC when the real candidates surface to the top?
