Sure, Fred Thompson needs to model his campaign after Hillary Clinton’s. Ya, that’s the ticket!

Fred just needs a 3rd place finish. Three tickets out of Iowa, the Huckster said so himself. And he’s in free fall.

Fred gets a big boost with a 3rd place finish. If he somehow finishes 2nd, I honestly think the nomination is his to lose - he’ll SLAUGHTER the Huckster in SC, and hopefully Huck can go back to Arkansas and never darken the GOP doorstep again.

I honestly expect him to switch parties after his inevitable thumping by someone - Fred or whoever.

Hank

“You know what stands out?
His foreign policy experience. He was Chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. He was Chairman for the International Security Advisory Board at the State Department. That is what stands out. But did you even know that?

The fact that most people don’t is also what stands out.
The fact that Fred has not made this the central issue in his campaign is what stands out. The fct that Fred has kept his national security credentials the best kept secret of the entire campaign season is what stands out. It stands out as evidence of the most incompetently run campaign in modern American history. It stands out as how the natural front-runner can sabotage his own campaign so bad that he winds up in last place. Gary Hart at least had a good time blowing his nomination.”

Do you think Fred really wants to win?
(Please answer since I’ll probably get 20 flames just for asking the question.)

Considering how volatile the situation is, I can’t imagine Fred quitting soon. Often it’s good to stick it out awhile, unforeseen things change that Fred could take advantage of.

Can you expound on your point?

If he had quit based on early polls and such here in Tennessee, he’d have never become Senator. He trailed in the polls all the way to a huge win.

You know we’ve had our disagreements but that last statement was a real whopper. The Thompsons live in the DC suburbs right now and Jeri probably lived in or near DC while she was working for the RNC.

You’re an IDIOT.
I tout Fred’s national security credentials ALL THE TIME.
Why doesn’t he?

I am angry as hell that he doesn’t.
It would be like Alan Greenspan running as a country-fried good ol’ boy instead of an economic guru. It makes about as much sense. You’d look at that and say “talk about economic policy and the Federal Reserve, Alan, not your momma’s fried chicken!!” That’s pretty much what Fred is doing. I swear he must really WANT to lose. You can’t blow a sure thing like this otherwise.

Did you see the Colts play the Titans Sunday? Fred’s campaign has been like the Colts in that game, and national security is his Peyton Manning.

I started the tradition in #220 yesterday after weeks of noting the "talking points" nature of Flip Romney supporters comments. Purpose is to show the total lack of independent intellectual capability among der Flipmeister's supporters.

I thought they lived in Virginia.
Anyways, you’re paying attention to the rhetoric instead of the message.

The point is Fred’s running his campaign like someone involved really really wants to lose what should have been a sure thing.

Wrong, as of today he’s tied with McCain for 3rd.
And McCain wasn’t even supposed to place in Iowa.

What does ‘I need to come in Second’ mean? How about if Fred does not come in second, what does he need to do?? It is OBVIOUS.

I would suggest that for each candidate there are likely at least two threshholds of significance: -1- The threshhold above which the candidate will be sufficiently happy with the way things are going that he won't feel a need to put in any backbreaking effort to improve things. -2- The threshhold below which the candidate will be sufficiently unhappy with the way things are going as to give up. If Fred Thompson had a crystal ball which told him that his expected level of effort would land him at a close third in Iowa, he might decide it was worth putting in extra effort to come in second. If, however, he knew that his present level of effort would net him a second-place finish, he probably would save his energy for later rather than max out his efforts. Why do you assume that the target is the same as the surrender threshhold?

McLean Virginia IS the DC burbs.

I’m sorry I mised your credentials as a professional campaign manager. Do get back to me if you want a job anytime soon.

I’m hoping this article is accurate and the REAL conservatives are starting to open their eyes and realize the importance of this choice. Fred Thompson is THE man. All the others are just poseurs. I just don’t get how any real conservative can favor any of the other candidates. It baffles me.
