deeper pockets make bigger targets, though.
Follows S&W buying Thompson Center, and licensing Walther.
Surprising it didn’t happen long ago. Marlin makes cheap and excellent 22s.
NEW YORK (Reuters) Private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management will buy closely held firearms maker Remington Arms for $118 million, the companies said Thursday.
As part of the acquisition of Remington, which makes guns for hunting and for police and military uses, Cerberus has agreed to assume $252 million of debt, including a revolving credit line and subordinated notes.
I love my Marlin Model 60 for plinking.
Have killed many tin cans with my 22.
My first .22 was a Marlin saddle gun; cherry stock and micro-grove rifling.
Reminton is owned by Cerberus who also bought DPMS, Bushmaster, and Cbb. Now add H&R, NEF and Marlin to Remington and that is A LOT of mfgs under one corp!
I had a Marlin Model 336 lever action years ago and it never failed me.
Cbb = Cobb
So, my Marlins are now Remmington and my TC’s are now S&W’s.
I bought a Marlin 30-30 years ago. I love that gun, it is an excelent deer rifle.
I have both Remington and Marlin in my inventory, fine firearms, not sure I like having Cerberus as a steward of those companies.
Kicks like a mule too. :)
Excellent first rifle and grownups don’t mind practicing shooting skills with it from time to time when the 30 cal is just too much noise, recoil, and expense all the time.
I’ll never forget my Marlin Super Goose. 10 ga.....Bolt action. OUCH!!!
I couldn’t find the date but just found out that acquisition was in April of this year.
Winchester Repeating Arms Company in New Haven went out last year. Sad to lose these jobs and the tradition of century old rifle manufacturing in Connecticut.
Anyone know anything about Cerberus Capital Partners, the parent company? Apparently they are picking up another chunk of the long gun market share by this transaction.
I got one also because I always wanted one. The barrel gets hot enough to fry an egg after two rounds and boy does it kick. But it’s not going away.
