I like that you can express your opinions without some of the insults seen so often here lately. You and I may disagree and yet I know you won’t call me a moron or a bot or anything. Thoughtful discourse is the way to share ideas and information!

So just keep throwing “hail mary’s” and forget about advancing the ball?? Loser of a strategy.

Anyone voting out of spite deserves to have that right taken from them.

Thank you. I have been appalled at some of the personal attacks I have seen on some of these election threads. We need to have sane discourse if we are to make the right decisions when it comes time to vote. I take my right to vote very seriously.

We have the additional challenge of filtering out what is true from everything we are seeing in the media, and consider what is behind everything we see. Not an easy task!

Ole Freddie Boy is a real dinosaur. And a stupid one too, offending half the electorate with his piggish comment.

One of the few things Newt Gingrich said that I agree with is we are not just dealing with holdovers from the Clinton administration. We are dealing with holdovers from Carter’s administration and before. These government workers get ingrained in departments and stay for years, eventually achieving SES status, making policy changes that haunt the US for decades.

An apt analogy considering FNC uses racing in their promotions of the election coverage.

Quit sniviling. Do some work and go to Fred’s website. Read what his positions are. You’re not thinking - you’re feeling. His statement about Hillary - is it correct? Yes, because she is the only woman on either platform. He is saying that he doesn’t mind a woman as President as long as it’s a conservative woman. You’re taking it personal against you as a woman, as a put-down on all women. It’s not. Again, stop feeling and start thinking.

I don’t think she was sniveling, only expressing a concern that many may have. Not saying I agree. I am a woman but realize he is just being Fred. However, the Dems are going to use any weapon they can find against us.

I am among the undecided, which makes it more important that people respond to political posts with substantive comments rather than personal comments. I’ve been hesitant to post on these election threads. I am trying to separate the truth from all the lies and diversions of the media and the flipflopping campaign rhetoric. I tend to look at what people do rather than what they say. Politicians can say anything. When you look at their records, it makes things much more complicated.

In terms of what I believe, those websites that ask you questions and then tell you who to vote for say I should vote for Huckabee or Duncan Hunter. I know enough about Huck not to want to vote for him, but need more info about Duncan Hunter. I don’t have a clear picture of him yet. Guiliani is a RINO with baggage and Romney seems to be flipflopper.

When asked to expound on his views on abortion rights, Thompson used a football analogy to explain why instead of a push for a federal ban there is a fight to put the decision in the hands of the states.

Fred usually opts for brevity with his simplicity. The best federalist response, in my opinion, would simply be this:
"Fifty-one sets of potential solutions is far more likely to quickly lead to the best path for all of us, rather than one monolithic and rarely challenged solution."

It's not only logical, simple and clear, it's also in perfect conformity with the Constitution's most basic premises.
Fred's folks should feel free to steal this line as early and as often as possible. Call it my most recent campaign donation. (As if it were mine in the first place, LOL.)

I understand what you are saying. It is not just this one issue that I am responding to, but a pattern of behaviors from him that find offputting. It is not his positions I am responding to, since I agree with him a lot, but how he expresses himself leaves a lot to be desired. When it comes to diplomacy and dealing with other leaders, attitudes can mean a lot. Subtleties become important. I am saying that I don’t trust him on this level to communicate appropriately.

That's correct, they will use everything. And if you are yourself and comfortable with yourself - as Fred appears to be - than it is harder for the media to make you uncomfortable about what you said. Right now he has not done the one thing that I absolutely detest from Republicans and that is apologize for any of his remarks. Say it than stand by it.

Bookwoman says she wants to see what the candidates do rather than what they say. Then she says looking at their record makes it complicated. Are you kidding me? Looking at their record is looking at what they did. If you are not sure about a candidate - as she is about Hunter - than what is she waiting for? Does she want the candidate to appear on her doorstep and have coffee with her? Hold her hand? That's what she sounds like to me. If she wants information concerning Hunter, than get up and go get it. Don't wait for people to hand it to you.

I find it refreshing that Fred is treating these silly questions with disdain - if more candidates did that then the stupid questions would stop. The one main complaint I have from these candidates - including Fred - is that not one has walked off the stage of these idiotic 'debates,.' stating as they did so that if the questions are not about national security, immigration, and taxes, I have no desire to be here.

He’s talking to reporters, for goodness sakes! What is it you don’t understand about that! They are about as dumb as a bunch of rocks. You want him to kiss the ring of world leaders? Kowtow to them? Hell, I want them to know that they are dealing with someone who isn’t going to back down. I have the impression you are still living in a pre 9/11 world. Get with it. The world has changed and not for the better. It’s way past time to continue being polite.

I can see when Rush gets back that he will have fun with this line, and most likely put it into his archives of classics.
I know Rush when seeing this comment from Fred must have made his day.
