Of course he will, as will Rudy and probably Romney too. If Fred doesn't do well in Iowa he's out and will endorse McCain. If Rudy doesn't do well in Florida he will drop out and endorse McCain.

McCain will win it all and probably pick softy Huck as his VP and will win in November but America and Republicans in general and Conservatives specifically will have lost.

Consider this, most thought that the Evangelicals would be shunned by the RINOs but actually its the small government, libertarian wing that will be shunned. Huck draws a quarter of the vote just by invoking Jesus, thats a nice VP right there because those voting for him really don't care about conservative principals only sin issues.

A McCain/Huck ticket gives America leaders soft on gun rights, willing to increase taxes and open the borders. Its the closed border leave me and my money alone and follow the Constitution Republicans that are going to be on the outside looking in. We better have a back up plan after the McCain/Huck fiasco but I assume it will be to late by then.

If McCain pulls out a miracle but picks a real Conservative as his VP I think we will be ok but if he picks Huck, forget it.

I have to say I am actually enjoying this debate. In the long run anyone can still win there is no clear winner right now and all of this is going to be very dynamic and good for the party and the country. This could well play a lot longer than anyone thinks.

A long drawn out fight is not good for the party because the party has no money. This needs to be over and the nominee clear hopefully before Feb 5 so concerted general election fund raising can get underway.

EVERYTHING revolves around the GOP having no money this year.

And no, it does not matter why. The issues of why mattered in the process of the train arriving at the station. It is at the station now. It arrived empty.

Being empty now defines how the campaign must be waged. It takes money to win and only the candidate POST NOMINATION with it can compete.

The party may have no money but the party members do have money. It all comes down to who gets nominated. If Fred Thompson is nominated, the party will get more of my money. If not, well, I’ll just invest it in something that will give me real returns.

“I thought my point on our national security would sink in, since Huck likes to laugh about it, disses Bush and wants to close Gitmo.”

Look, I have many years of military service and I still wear a uniform as a reservist. National security is a top priority to me. My civilian occupation also deals with national security. I am instensely loyal to Commander and Chief G.W. Bush. I didn’t see the horror in anything Huckabee said and it is mild compared to how people on FR constantly bad mouth the good man President Bush is because they don’t like some policy of his. I consider it to be the epitome of hypocrisy when persons on this forum attack Huckabee over actually mild statements, but then accuse President Bush of treason because he doesn’t share their bigotry and racism about persons from the South of our border. It has been my very great privilege to serve with many a fine soldier that are Americans now that didn’t have the most legal of beginnings coming here. These guys have literally bled in the service of this country. My goodness, without hispanic and black soldiers our army would be gutted. Get off my back with your selective bias and definitely get off theirs.

You folks conveinently twist facts to suit your agenda while ignoring others and then you pick and chose how to support the President. Don’t critisize a politician for making political statements until you FULLY support the POTUS, G.W. Bush - and NOT just when it suits you.

Now go smoke your Cuban cigar (like Rush Limbaugh) and tell yourself what a great patriot you are, but leave national security to people like myself that actually care and aren’t just racists wrapping themselves in a flag. I serve when men and women of many ethnic backgrounds and I’m proud and privileged to do so.

Sorry to be so ascerbic, but I’m sick of attacks by folks making assumptions about who and what I am. And I’m sick about inconsistent treatment of President Bush.

Eu tu Sola.

I have never done or said anything you just accused me of. Your rant alone that you just made is exactly why, when I read your post, I realize your bias and incomplete dedication to the full gambit of Conservative ideas.

I have never attacked GW for anything, indeed I have been an ardent supporter. I do have a few issues with him over ILLEGEAL immigration, but also you will find in these very forums where I have argued for the cases of friends both from south of the border and from Arab lands. You marking me as a racist is as laughable and stupid as anything you have said.

I too work with many who serve through my career and support the armed services in ways that would be impressive if I cared to share them. I have lost two good friends in the service of this country, one all but a brother.

I salute your service but if you think what Huckabee, a supposed leader in the Republican movement and a contestant for the leadership of this great land, said was just some minor little stumble or worse something to be admired you are as clueless about politics as you are about me.

Couldn’t have said it better myself!
