I think he is saying that they will cost millions and completely shatter upon impact.

But they WILL have ejection seats, right?

Not to say we cannot reduce the weight and enhance performance. Think fighter planes....

If this continues, a car will cost about the same as a fighter plane.

I am not saying that planes and cars will be the same or similar but I am saying that in the developement of plane design, higher strengths were achieved for what they do by using materials that are both lighter and stronger. If those materials can be adapted to passenger car design, they will and at a fraction of the cost.

In other words, it may not be necessary to “ban SUV’s” nor will their performance be harmed.[Yes, I understand there is another agenda at work on a lot of this stuff like faaayyyeeerrrr-ness that someone drives a bigger vehicle and yada.] My point is that the higher cafe standards do not necessarily spell doom.

This law is based on 100% corruption of our politicians. The amount of unmarked 100 bills floating around Congress must be in the billions. Especially the farmers. May they all rot in hell, which is where they are all going.

This is the forced replacement of quality products with inferior ones. When the car was invented to replace the buggy, they did not have to pass laws to get people to change, the new product was so superior to the old that everyone wanted them.

In this case, CFL lights are junk compared to incandescents and corn methanol is inferior to just about every other source of power. Reminds me of the junk toilets they put out that required me to go to Canada to get mine. And now I have to buy a lifetime supply of light bulbs.

Milloy hits it out of the park, as usual.

Modelers and other hobbyists like myself are screwed if we change over to CFL’s. For example, a model painted under flourescent light usually looks way off when it’s later viewed in sunlight or under incandescents.
