This is a reasonable endorsement.

Considering Putin did bring stability to Russia against the chaos of the Yeltsin period and looting done by the oligarchs. He is not a dictator by any means and he is popular with the Russians simply because he has brought in stability and prosperity to the nation.

“for an extraordinary feat of leadership in taking a country that was in chaos and bringing it stability.”

It’ll be even more stable when he takes dictatorial power, just like Castro did in Cuba. They haven’t had gun crime and everyone works in that people’s paradise.
They have employed a lot of people making polonium and the undertaker business is booming, particularly for the members of the press.
It’ll be even better when he seizes all property for the common good, that’ll show those capitalists.

Actually I’m surprised it’s not Gore.

Love him or not, Putin is trying to walk the really fine line between the Communist past and the capitalist future. People forget that the Person of the Year award is for the most influential person of the year, for better or worse.

This should not surprise anyone. In 1938 they chose Hitler and in 1939 their pick was Stalin. In fact they have been pretty consistent in selecting the scum of the earth for quite some time. Only when they realize that people are truly outraged by their anti-American antics do they throw in someone like Reagan or Pope John Paul II. This 'publication' should have been out of business years ago.

Just wow. I would honestly have preferred Al Gore over Putin.

the 2007 honor went to the Russian leader “for an extraordinary feat of leadership in taking a country that was in chaos and bringing it stability.”

Yep, bringing it to stability has really been a slow step toward the return of communism.

Have our liberal elites ever meet a communist they didn’t like?
Next year when it’s finally announced Castro has died I expect we’ll see him on the front cover as Man of the Year. Yeesh!

Well, I think they also had Stalin as Man of the Year, too.

Time is irrelevant.

I’m sure J.K. Rowling made a strong late charge by making the hip, progressive pronouncment that head wizard of Hogwarts, Dumbledore was a queer.

Time clearly sees “stability” as a more significant outcome than “freedom”. Well, at least eveyone will have their papers in order. Or else.

It’s not an honor. Hitler was Time’s man of the year.

The MSM, Time inparticular, proves once again itds abject anti-American bias and its afinity for ideologies and individuals that are the anti-thesis of the very foundation of our own nation, our liberty, and way of life.

Time is like Pravda...they cater to the enemies of freedom while, I suppose, hoping one day to get favors from the same. I have news for them, if such tyrants ever came to power here, based on the ideologies Time leans toward, the only favor these foolish useful idiots would get from those tyrants is a bullet in the back of the head.

...and they are moving towards that end as fast as their little leftist feet will take them on ground that has been vouchsafed by the blood of true patriots who have sacrificed their blood and their very lives to defend the principles and foundaltional values that these people hold in such high disregard.

As others have said...it is stunning, but in a sick, twisted way.

How about that lady from Colorado that saved possibly a 100 lives by gunning down the mass murderer?

They had to go with Putin because Hitler and Stalin are dead.

The reason they picked Putin is that they had to have an excuse not to pick Petraeus. They couldn't pick an American, because Petraeus would obviously have been more influential in the U.S., so they went searching overseas, and Putin had won an election, so, Putin it was.

Obvious Time cannot way for this KGB operative to revive the cold war so as to call Reagan a failure. Gee, when was the last time I bought a Time magazine? Oh, that’s right, never.
