I think you would find this interesting:

“The Legacy of the 1936 Election”
The author makes a very good point that the turning point was the 2nd election of FDR. Individuality gave way to “groups.” The start of socialist creep in the US.
Wow! I had it made compared to your hubby. I was an air defender at Hahn & Spangdahlem AB during the late 70's. Our life expectancy was 15 minutes. I remember the ridiculous training we had for a nuclear attack. Anybody with an ounce of sense knew if that balloon had gone up, everything within a five mile radius of the runway would have been vaporized.
I will apologize for my vote for Carter, but I was only 22 at the time. My conservative voting began with Reagan, and continues to this day.
I also apologize for my vote for Rick Perry last November. Damn, did I F up!
Although my parents are technically Silent Gen, they turned out early on to be wanna be Boomers. When I was growing up, they increasingly accepted and inflicted the values mentioned in this post. It took me until my 30s to get grounded and accept age old, demonstrated effective core values. I would never inflict this on anyone.
And YOUR children are...
Think Boy Scouts even before you ask, and mine are out in the real world now.
As a matter of general interest, I find it rather amusing that both my mother and I are considered "baby boomers".
That said, I am actually a "gen-x-er", according to the book of that title. Funny, I've always thought of myself as "Don".
Then again, what do I know about me?
Yes they are, I'm proud to say!
And which generation were the morons who believed FDR’s New Deal Bullsh*t?
And which generation thought Prohibition would work?
Idiots - all of them!
There is nothing new under the sun.
