Here in liberal Seattle about 1 or 2 years ago there was some angry nut yelling and shoving people in an outdoor mall around Christmas time. He pushed one guy down and started kicking and beating the guy. The gentleman was in fear for his life, pulled his CC weapon and killed the lunatic. The cops said no charges would be filed and there was never anything more about the incident - other than the lunatic’s family held a prayer vigil or something and wanted the man that shot their son arrested. Didn’t happen, and I never heard anything about a civil lawsuit either.
He's a New Yorker. They all think that way there. upChuckie Schemer, Hitlary, the evil Carolyn McCarthy, and the neonazi tyrant wannabe below, etc. didn't get elected by accident. They were elected because they represent the views of New Yorkers on guns and self defense (among other things).
In the last presidential election Manhattan went 88% for Kerry (or was it 90%)and the other boroughs were similar.
Ranya indeed, in real life.
None taken. It was a feeble attempt at humor on my part.
If I understand our relatively new "stand your ground" law here in GA, a person can't be charged with a crime for using deadly force to repel an attacker as long as he/she is attacked or has good reason to believe that his/her life or limb is endangered in in his/her home or any other place where he/she has a right to be such as a public sidewalk, park, or street. In a situation such as you described in Seattle, I assume that here in GA the victim of a similar attack would now be immune to prosecution if he shot the madman who was assaulting him/her, and would also be protected against any civil lawsuit involving the incident.
I have read our law a couple of times, but I really need to have an attorney explain it to me without the legalese since I have a CC permit and I go armed whenever I am forced to go kicking and screaming into downtown Atlanta. Of course like most big American cities nowadays, there are parts of Atlanta where I wouldn't go after dark without a squad of Marines in full combat gear going along with me.
Yes. I have read the apology. Good on Tenacious1.
Now onto the more important issues involving this incident.
