Yep, and by that time the Democrats will have us spending 25% of our GDP fighting global warming.
For the 1840's, it was indeed an astonishing discovery.
For the 2000's, it's not so astonishing anymore; except for the AlGorians.
I think it is pretty well supported that sunspots correlate to temperature. I knew an old geologist that was big into “cycles” and had developed cold-weather wheat and other plants for the upcoming colder world-wide temperatures that he thought was coming soon. The seeds are being further researched in Sweden.
We could have used some global warming in DC today. I hate snow!
So, if I got this right, the sun causes the earth to be either cooler or warmer. Man, I NEVER would have guessed that!
Hey, anyone want to buy some carbon credits?
If this happens, you can bet that Algore and his acolytes will take full credit.
before you get too excited about this, you should consider a few things.
1. Algore and his compatriots will not admit they are wrong since there is too much money and too much of their attempt for increased control riding on this.
2. It’s not ‘global warming’, it’s ‘climate change’.
3. During the 1970s, increased carbon dioxide was supposed to cause global cooling.
I predict that if temperatures were to fall by 10 degrees, they will say, ‘see, we might have been wrong about increasing temperatures but we were right that man’s increased carbon output is the cause of the temperature drop. Now we must do even more to prevent global cooling’.
This article is a revelation to those who don’t use common sense. Fluctuating solar energy due to the earth tilting away and toward the sun causes the four seasons, but somehow the fluctuating solar energy from the sun’s radiation cycle can’t raise the overall temperature in a season one degree over one hundred years. This is basic common sense science, but it has been ignored in order to turn “Global Climate Change” into a cash industry for the academics and social engineers. I can’t wait to see endless reports come out trying to claim the sun is not a factor in global warming or cooling as a response to this type of article.
Seems like every time we get a new view of the system via a new satellite the picture is not what was expected, mainly because of detail that was not available before, and somebody notices a feature like the ozone hole, which has been there all along, and assumes it is just as new as the new data presentation. A century from now they will consider our data primitive and useless and will find fresh details to be alarmed about.
Huh?
Here is a most interesting part of the article at the very end:
Dr David Whitehouse is an astronomer and the author of ‘The Sun: A Biography’ (John Wiley, 2004)
I don’t know about the warming / cooling but it sure is screwing up Ham Radio
Bush’s fault.
Pay no attention to the sun behind the curtain. We must destroy our economy and advance socialism quickly.
Oh, I don't know, mostly good except for this ... If so, then our Sun might come to our rescue over climate change, mitigating mankind's influence and allowing us more time to act.
I found this rather funny letter to the editor the other day that I think sums it up pretty well.
To the editor:
Concerning global warming:
Awhile back, I saw a fellow planting a tree to offset the effects of carbon dioxide emissions. What I couldn't figure out was how moving a tree from one hole to a different hole would have any effect on global warming.
I decided to try this myself. After working all day moving a tree, I placed my thermometer next to the hole from which the tree came out, and took measurements. Next, I measured the temperature next to the hole with the tree in it. Believe it or not, the second hole showed cooler temperatures by approximately 10 degrees.
I have to admit, though, that there were a few kinks with this experiment. One, it seems to work only during the day, and the tree died before I could conduct a comprehensive study of this phenomenon.
I am not discouraged, though. For my next scientific study, I am planning on running my air conditioner and leaving the windows and doors open so I can see how long it will take to cool off the entire neighborhood. Maybe by next summer, my government grant will be approved, and I'll have enough funds to cool off the entire city.
Wish me luck. And to all those global warming skeptics out there who think it's based on junk science, I say: Ha!

“The longer we have to wait for cycle 24, the weaker it is likely to be. Such behaviour is usually followed by cooler temperatures on Earth.”
Thank goodness the sun is cooling. It will offset all the warming that we’re causing.
Amazing, isn’t it. The sun can cause cooling, but it didn’t cause warming. Wouldn’t it be a coincidence if the sun caused enough cooling to offset the global warming caused by man, and we will continue to have a normal climate.
