Rasmussen’s explaination:

Polls recently released by other firms have recently shown Huckabee surging but Giuliani still retaining his lead. For example, a recent Gallup poll showed Giuliani leading Huckabee by nine percentage points. The difference between the two results is partly the result of timing as Rasmussen Reports provides new information more frequently than any other firm. On the dates of the Gallup survey, Rasmussen Reports showed Giuliani still leading Huckabee by three. Since the Gallup survey was completed, Huckabee has gained a net six points over Giuliani.

Additionally, Rasmussen Reports screens for Likely Primary voters while Gallup surveyed Adults. Neither approach is necessarily right or wrong, but Primary Voters tend to be more conservative than Republicans generally. As a result, a poll that screens for Likely Primary Voters is likely to show more support for Huckabee than a poll that measures the opinions of Republican and Republican leaning adults.

“As opposed to what.... an “analytical evangelical”... (That would be me...)”

You can add me to the list of “analytical evangelical” as well. We now know that there are at least 2 in the world.

LOL, well Conservatives have insisted on a avid Christian, pro-life man who has a pristine marriage.

So, Huck should slide on in the the WH!

Ron Paul is the only other candidate with measurable support and he currently attracts 7% of Likely Republican Primary voters nationwide

Dr. Paul within 3 points of Fred, the 'savior' of conservatism (at least according to the party 'faithful')... Hey Fred!! Wake up Fred!! We promise we'll give you a round of applause. Hey, has anybody seen Fred? Last I heard he was wandering around SC giving speeches to standing room only 'crowds' of 100. LOL!!

Apparently they don’t insist on a man with policies that will protect and preserve our Republic and the economy within it.

Tunnel vision IOW.

Yes. My friend totally ignores with a whim all Huckabees tax hikes, pardoning of rapists, big government plans, and stance against Gitmo. He said that the most imporant thing is that he call himself a “Christian” and that he could never vote for someone that was a Mormon b/c they were not. (I am not a Romney guy, btw). I find that non-analytical, at best.

Of course, we also have to keep McNutty at bay. Sort of a difficult balancing act.

So what. He is still my candidate! Sorry that Americans don’t vote for the best candidate, but I will.

Um, how exactly does A Thompson “slide” help Hunter. There are a few others above him, including Ron Paul...

Don’t know or care! I just wish that Americans would wake up and vote for the best candidate who is definitely without a doubt Duncan Hunter. If America is too stupid to do that than hopefully at the very least Huck is chosen. Yes he has negatives but they all do.

Fred Thompson, John McCain, Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, and even Ron “Lunatic” Paul are also fine on the abortion issue.

It's not even that as Huck is not the only pro-life candidate.

It's identity politics.

As an activist in Iowa, I can tell you that Thompson is dead here.

I considered caucusing for Huck for the same reasons as you (not particularly liking Rommey or Rudy), but the more I learn about him and the more I see him, I realize he is a classic Southern Democrat (populist, big government, bible thumping class warrior)posing as a conservative Republican and would be an awful candidate.

Most of his support here is coming from social conservatives who haven’t looked past the Baptist preacher shtick, are disappointed with Thompson’s terrible campaign, and are confronting the reality that Romney may not really be what they thought he was last summer. Most of the ones that I know still know very little about his economic and tax record in Arkansas.

Rudy’s numbers are down because he basically has written off Iowa-he never comes here and he is relying on some really old radio ads (and that is about it) to keep himself in play. Iowans are spoiled about getting alot of attention, so they are pissed off about Rudy.

My brother-in-law last night said, Can you imagine having Huckabee and Obama as the two choices in November-what a scary thought! If we don’t wake up, it could happen!

While we are far apart on candidates, there is one thing I think you will agree with me on. These charts will make a person dizzy...

Damn....

Yes, but how many babies will die when Sharia law takes over?

(hyperbole perhaps, but so is acting as if Huckabee’s election will suddenly erase abortion from the planet.)

He’s been busy campaigning and writing real policy proposals instead of smiling and talking about Jesus a lot.

Well.... Sounds like he qualifies as a non-analytical evangelical... I could find something not to like about each one of the GOP contenders... But the main thing is, will the GOP candidate support conservative principles and nominate conservative judges...
