Do you tow your fishing boat into crowded urban canyons like Boston, New York, San Francisco, or Chicago? That's where these will be.
I rented a Ka in England in the 90s and compared it to the Nissan Micra (or was it the Micro?), and I liked the Nissan better.
Good point. I prefer an F-250 for driving over little metal thingies in college parking lots.
I don’t live in an urban city. But down south here in God’s country, folks drive big trucks everywhere, even with the current price of gasoline and diesel. Have you ever driven through Birmingham, Nashville, or Hotlanta? Big pickup trucks everywhere. I only drive my truck to tow my boat or trailer. Otherwise, I drive my Saturn Sky Redline.
Considering it cout fit into the back of a F-250 I am guessing it isn’t too safe. I don’t hate VW I think the Passat is a great car, I just hate these trendy pocket cars.
So you're in this thread just to troll then?

Do you recognize that you are not a part of the intended market? No car draws more hate than the Hummer, but people who drive them like them. Same for the small trendy cars. Some people like them because of their excellent maneuverability, or their great gas mileage, or their even the way they look. To each their own.
Uh, that is a concept.
There smarts are on boats on their way to the US, with 30000 orders.
They only shut down the PT Cruiser convertible...but Chrysler is in deep trouble right now.

we put this on Lenos garage last month
Nissan is also bringing a smaller car to the US....not sure if it will be based on the $5999 car destined for India.
Since Chrysler is now private, we shall probably never know if it is still in trouble.

For a car that’s supposed to be the People’s car, it doesn’t seem very people friendly. Its size guarantees that its occupants will be injured or killed in an accident with almost any other vehicle. That massive blind spot in the rear corners will make changing lanes at 85 mph very difficult. Its best safety feature will be that VW’s are brilliantly responsive and maneuverable; as long as the driver is reasonably competent, he will be able to avoid situations that would be disastrous in an SUV, such as swerving to avoid a deer.
No, they are in deep trouble. Cereberus is teetering also.
I wont be surprised if Daimler gets it back for pennies on the Euro.
I think people who drive these cars want attention and nothing more. They latch on to the lattest trend in a pathetic attempt to fit in or be “special”
The only road in the United States with a speed limit higher than 75 mph is I-10 in West Texas. I don't think these are intended for cruising that particular Interstate. They are an urban get-around vehicle. You will see them in downtown Boston or San Francisco where the speeds are never more than 35 mph, there are no deer, and any collisions will be at walking speed.
You just described 99% of the cars and people on the road. Basically anyone not in a Taurus, Camry, or Corolla.
Nooooo! I refuse to relive the days of Jimmy Carter and “le car”
