Of course Illegal immigrants do not come here just to have their babies so their babies will be (anchor) US citizens. Ask any Liberal.

Why Mexican illegals are driving America "cuckoo"

Why doesn't Mexico take care of its own people? Why don't the ultra-wealthy Mexican elites help to pay for the health care and education etc of their own poor? Why do they instead encourage their poor to leave Mexico and invade the United States? Nature provides a parallel that is instructive.

Some species of birds thrive not by carefully rearing their own young, but by pawning that task off on adults of other species. The European Cuckoo, whose distinctive call is immortalized in the sound of the "cuckoo clock," is the bird in which this habit has been most thoroughly studied. Female European Cuckoos lay their eggs only in the nests of other species of birds. A cuckoo egg usually closely mimics the eggs of the host (one of whose eggs is often removed by the cuckoo).

The host may recognize the intruding egg and abandon the nest, or it may incubate and hatch the cuckoo egg. Shortly after hatching, the young European Cuckoo, using a scoop-like depression on its back, instinctively shoves over the edge of the nest any solid object that it contacts. With the disappearance of their eggs and rightful young, the foster parents are free to devote all of their care to the young cuckoo. Frequently this is an awesome task, since the cuckoo chick often grows much larger than the host adults long before it can care for itself. One of the tragicomic scenes in nature is a pair of small foster parents working like Sisyphus to keep up with the voracious appetite of an outsized young cuckoo.

According to the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, any person born on American soil is a United States citizen.

No, the 14th Amd does NOT say that.

Is that something like

"ILLEGAL"

or something???

Just wondering....

If a pregnant illegal makes it to Arkansas, our EX Gov Huckabee implemented a prenatal program that guarantees the illegal won't be deported if she seeks on going prenatal care.

Just one of the many reasons we love him so much here...sarc/

Just put the hospital bill on my tab.
And the kids education.
And we better support the mother too...and her husband..brother, mother and father. Better get her other kids in-country to see their new sybling. Lets get them some jobs... you know... the ones Americans won’t do.

Go ahead and bill me for all of it....

Oh, right. You already have.

Perfect.

Stationed outside the woman’s hospital room was Border Patrol Agent Ortiz, who refused to give his first name.
Isn't there a better way for the Border Patrol to spend their time than guarding the door of one woman and her newborn? They possibly kept one illegal immigrant out of the country (the kid is a citizen) at the same time that hundreds more were crossing. All this stunt did was generate bad publicity for the border patrol. Limited resources require responsible priorities.
“I know that sound,” Ortiz said. “I heard it when I had my two children.”
It sounds like even the agent thought this was a bad idea.

Is this a great country or what?

I’m sorry, but aliens who are in the United States are subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. Else, how could we deport them?

Excellent analogy. There are many issues contributing to this problem. Responsibility by the Mexican government and elites is a major part of the solution.

But why should the Mexican Government and elites address this problem? Big business and the US government are doing a fine job of taking care of it already.

Crippling fines for companies that get caught employing illegals would fix the problem in a heartbeat without turning our country into a police state. Shareholders would make sure of it. There are a lot less employers of illegals than illegals. Mexico would have to deal with their own problems when the US jobs dry up.

More agents guarding nurseries isn't the answer.

No, the 14th Amd does NOT say that.
Literally true. Wishing that the system worked that way doesn't change reality.
If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.
This problem needs creative solutions. Not the same old worn out solutions that always let Big Business off the hook.

In Mexican law, nationality is the precondition for citizenship.

“Citizenship” refers to those of Mexican nationality who have arrived at the age of 18 and are in full exercise of their rights as Mexicans—voting being the principal example. (Mexican Constitution, Articles 34, 35, 36).

According to the Mexican Constitution, Article 34:

“Citizens of the (Mexican) Republic are those men and women who, possessing the status of Mexicans [nationality], meet, in addition, the following qualifications:

Having completed 18 years of age, and

Having an honest means of livelihood.

When the 14th Amendment was adopted in the 1860s "subject to the jurisdiction" meant owing allegiance to the country. Read the debates, it's all in there. Illegals can't be drafted, serve on juries, or vote in elections because they have none anymore than diplomats or their children do.

The simplest way to clear it up once and for all is to undo the executive order that began this insane policy decades ago then let it go to the USSC when the government is sued.
