IMO and that of a LOT of others, the answer is economics and big business. This means two key issues, Border Control and Free versus fair trade. Both are what the American people want, BUT big business and investors don’t.

“It’s obvious some very powerful forces are aligned against (especially) Duncan Hunter, and also Fred Thompson.”

I cannot disagree.

Remember, at this point in the race in 1991, Clinton was a complete unknown.

The good old days

The secret plan is to flood the country with immigrants, both legal and illegal, destroying the middle class, and paving the way for world government.

What does Fred do that's worthy of reporting? He's doing just what the other candidates are doing, but with half the energy and vigor.

Say what you want about Mitt, but he is a helluva hard worker. I just can't respect someone (like Fred) who is lazy.

this is neither Iran nor NKor nor Venezuela nor Russia. Not yet.

Hey, the Soviets had elections.

It's just that a handful of elites got to decide who the choices were.

Come on? Thompson, sure, he's viable, but Hunter?

Viable, meaning the only two candidates who make enough sense to be considered IMHO. (In My Honest Opinion.)

Again, my opinion and admittedly so.

The “running America” comment is mostly sarcastic and I borrowed it from the content of Rush’s show.

Please note that I am making a comment specifically about a particular behavior of the media. I believe Thompson has a very good chance of winning because many will vote for him.

Name the last Congressman be elected President.

Hint: You’re going to have to go back a long time to find him and he was elected to the Senate the same day he was elected to the White House. (He also wasn’t President for very long).

As much as we like his political leanings, Hunter is not viable.

apolgies, I thought I linked the pic to its source, as I usually attempt to do.

I'd have linked to the one with the blonde in it but it was disabled for linking.

And for people like Bill O’Reilly and other Fox News pundits to compromise principle

I'm a regualr watcher of BOR, he is NOT compromising his principals. He is a populist, which almost by defination has no principals, except to follow the popular guy.

Ok I’ll just admit. No idea. Who?...

But don’t you think the fact we’re almost frighteningly quickly squandering 100 years as the world’s economic powerhouse — to so obviously enrich just a few selfish special interest groups — is creating the biggest bundle of bone-dry political kindling, waiting for the spark of someone... just someone... to stand up and simply say:

“ENOUGH”.

I sure do.

You lost me in the first sentence: that Hunter and Thompson are the only viable candidates. Nonsense. It’s a strong field, especially the top 5. If you believe there are only two viable candidates at this early point, especially those two, then you have lost your sense of balance, my friend.

It’s fine to have a favorite or two going into the primaries. That’s what primaries are for. But keep some balance. Your two favorites are not everyone’s two favorites.

Me - I’m for Romney, who has run a state and a business and an Olympics. He’s both viable and qualified. I’m not impressed at all with Thompson and see no sustained effort from Hunter to want to be President. But that’s just me.

The rats' mouthpieces in the MSM annointed the Republican 'front runners' waaay before the usual time, each of whom has some flaw or flaws conservatives would consider unacceptable. The ensuing squabble has:

1: Kept the other more acceptable candidates out of the news, and low in the polls.

2: Squandered tremendous sums before the primary on candidates whom I have no doubt the Clinton Machine could scuttle next October.

3: Had the added 'benefit' of burning out those who are paying attention. and

4: Creating rifts in the Republican Party which will ensure it learns nothing from the lesson of 2006: Namely, that you do not try to steal the liberal base, you energize your own.

So while the liberal 'front runners' are waffling back and forth trying not to lose their hometown crowds, and at the same time trying to appear acceptably conservative on all the right issues (that dog just won't hunt), the MSM conveniently is disposing of anyone who has the potential to energize the conservative base by ignoring them or dismissing them out of hand--because they are not in the middle of the fracas the MSM has created.

And, for the naysayers out there, the biggest reason given for not supporting anyone the media have deemed to be of the 'second tier' (Especially Duncan Hunter) is that 'no one has heard of them, so they can't win'.

Now who is controlling the battlespace?

Who has 'air(time) superiority?

The largely Democrat MSM.

Just dirty tricks as usual, no special propaganda technique, and people are knocking each other down to fall for it.

As for FOX, they only claim to be "Fair and Balanced", not conservative.
