Amen.
Not an “uhm” or an “ahhh...” either.
The man knows what he believes, and why.
He brought it up with his racist tax scheme. Insinuating that scheme's critics are racist is the height of hypocrisy.
This country has all but turned its back on God so it's really no mystery to me that Keyes doesn't resonate with a lot of people.
See, this is where you are parroting the Democrat Media’s talking points.
It was them who “brought it up.” And so, he answered a hypothetical, saying, “If you can prove damages” then you use a remedy that accords with liberty, not a Great Society scheme that pours good money after bad, and further damages those the Left is lying about wanting to “help.”
You really need to learn to think past mere sound bites.
His hypothetical brought up the idea of race-based taxes.
You can mince words all you want...as one of his sycophants I suppose you need to do that often...but when you insinuate that I’m racist for criticizing his race-based tax scheme, you detonate your credibility.
“Why in the hell are they adding a podium?”
Yeah, a lectern maybe - but a whole podium?
(Goes under my “pet peeves” category).
Touche.
Fred Thompson is not my religion. I do not feel compelled to agree with him on ever issue.
The idea that you would defend race-based income taxes to me is obscene.
You're so superior. Of course, your insinuation is that I "feel compelled to agree" with Alan Keyes on "ever issue," which is just not true.
The idea that you would defend race-based income taxes to me is obscene.
It would be if I'd ever done that.
In fact, I've never done any such thing.
Neither has Keyes. It's a concoction of the Democrat Media.
Neither Keyes nor myself have ever supported reparations.
Keyes simply used an academic argument against those in the black community who are relying on the government teat to resolve their problems, when that is the very reliance that is continuing to destroy their community.
You’ve got to be up to about 10,000 rpms.
Pity your audience here isn’t stupid, or you could get away with that.
Perhaps you would have rather had him go into Chicago and argue for the continuation of the welfare state and the Great Society.
You’re ignoring the facts, because it serves your purpose.
I’m ignoring your spin.
Yeah, right.
This is probably all a moot discussion anyway.
The chances of Giuliani, or Romney, or Thompson, or McCain, or Huckabee, having the courage to debate Alan Keyes are almost zero. They’re all lightweights and cowards who know they can’t even come close to standing up to him intellectually.
My guess is that they will kill this debate by threatening to withdraw, or apply so much pressure on the Register that they renege on their invitation to Dr. Keyes.
And the process will become even more Soviet than it already is, to the detriment of the people.
Agree. Congratulations, EV -- I'm glad Keyes is finally getting a fair chance to participate.
Although I do disagree with your assessment of Thompson.
Still, congrats on Keyes’ inclusion.
A long time Keyes supporter, I tend to agree with you. I think his mission is, however, to torpedo a few RINO's. I don't think he will syphon off any votes.
BTW, who are the articulate conservatives? Certainly not front runners.
