Not really. The prime minister they elected, while more religious, is not pro-Sharia by any means. Per public polls, over 90% of Turks oppose implementing any form of Sharia law.

No, they're not. Ever been to Istanbul? To the Mediterrean coastal resorts in Antalya, Marmaris? Half the women on those beaches are topless. Granted, the eastern part of the nation is more conservative and some women do cover their hair with headscarves, but rarely will you see Turkish women cover their faces like in Afghanistan.
And Turkey by no means requires women to cover up - in fact, they have strict laws banning wearing headscarves in public buildings and schools.

I have not been there, too much chaos currently. I have been to Jordan and Israel, however. I just am gathering recent data from the news/ and from my friend. I think it is taking a turn for the worse there in many ways.
