Cronkite will be a big draw for that program - the viewers can start throwing things at the teevee again!

Will he call the Iraq surge a losing battle (like he did the Tet Offensive) and call for the aging hippies to ride to Washington on their hover-round scooters to protest Nix.., er, Bush?

How old is Cronkite now? 130?
He was 90 during the Viet Nam war!

Lucille Ball and Gale Gordon attempted that. Their age showed and their show crashed and burned. Sometimes you need to just fade away. Johnny Carson was to the left politically but he had great business sense and show business sense. He left us wanting and didn’t do the Bob Hope thing. Linkletter and Harvey are exceptions to this, but their gig is to talk to us like cheerleaders and grandfathers. That wears better, much better. If Cronkite wants to do that maybe it will work. If he wants to lecture us on politics, I don’t think so.

He should have guests like Alan Greenspan, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Cindy Sheenan, and all of those other people who just won’t go away.

Cronkite is more alive than the Mummy of King Tut.
I’m approaching retirement age and the last thing I want to see is a senile old coot.

When you really need to end a war, Who would you look for?. Bob Hope?..nope. He was an American patriot. Che Guevera? Already taken. Cindy Sheehan? She and her smelly friends are still in my basement! Ewww. Get the a@@hole who lied and distorted the Vietnam war from start to finish. there ya go.
