Robertson is now a full-fledged useful idiot.

robertson and huckabee and “All Rudy All the Time” is now the thrust of Hannity and Colmes.

They have thrown their no-holds-barred support behind this evil man.

I think that any candidate in the lower tier has only ‘til the end of this month to do something dramatic to launch their campaign.

Thompson’s got the best shot of the conservatives.

Of the others McCain, Romney, and Huckabee, I’d say that Huckabee has the best shot, but every time I look at the guy I swear he looks like Jim Nabors.

I would prefer Hunter, but I am comfortable with Thompson.

However, the point still remains that no president ever has or ever will appoint a Supreme Court justice who they do not BELIEVE agrees with them.

This being true, what a President actually believes becomes paramount.

Well, here are a few things that Rooty Toot has said about abortion:

“I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights,” Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing."
- CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999

"Ultimately I believe it's an individual right and a woman should make that choice."
- Apr 4, 2007

"Where I stand on abortion is, I oppose it. I don't like it. I hate it. I think abortion is something that, as a personal matter, I would advise somebody against."

"However, I believe in a woman's right to choose."
- Hannity & Colmes, Feb 5, 2007

"But if the ultimate choice of the woman - my daughter or any other woman - would be that in this particular circumstance [if she had] to have an abortion, I'd support that. I'd give my daughter the money for it."
- Phil Donahue Show, 1989

there are "various ways to protect life" -- with appointing judges to the Supreme Court as the top method. How does it help?

The key to stopping abortion is the Supreme Court where it was "legalized" in the 70's. The other way is a constitutional amendment which doesn't seem likely.

Is Robertson correct about believing Giuliani? He should come to California and look at Schwarzenegger's meltdown. He is also a social liberal who ran as a conservative and continued that way until it got too hot - then his true liberal colors came out. It'll be way hotter in DC than in Sacramento. I think Robertson erred in recommending Giuliani although he's correct that the Supreme court is the key to stopping abortion.

The new judges believe the same as the old judges. The executive branch and the legislative branch must override the judicial branch. Promises about judicial appointments mean nothing:

December 2, 2005; Posted: 3:16 p.m. EST (20:16 GMT)

(CNN) — Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito had a private meeting with the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday as he sought to reassure lawmakers that he would respect legal precedent on abortion rights and put his personal views aside.

Sept. 13, 2005
WASHINGTON — Supreme Court nominee John Roberts said Tuesday that the landmark 1973 ruling legalizing abortion was “settled as a precedent of the court” as he was immediately pressed to address the divisive issue on the second day of his confirmation hearings.

The executive branch and the legislative branch must override the judicial branch.

The executive branch executes and upholds the Constitution and the laws. The legislative branch could create laws that counter the Supreme Courts rulings, I suppose, but that would take interpreting the Constitution away from the Supreme Court (structured by the Constitution to be non political) and into the hands of politically-motivated Congress. The outcome of that would be a major fracture in the Constitution and disastrous to our country.

Abortion is a Constitutional issue. The 1973 decision was a gross error that needs to be reversed. Only a Constitutional Amendment or enough constitutionally sound Justices can fix the problem, CNN News notwithstanding.

Robertson make no sense. If he wants to support someone who will appoint pro-life judges, then why not support a pro-life candidate? Yet Robertson supports the only pro abortion candidate on the GOP side.

IMO, the real reason for Robertson's support of Rudy is that he had political ambitions and Rudy made him a lucrative offer.

(structured by the Constitution to be non political) and into the hands of politically-motivated Congress:

Isn't it funny how the politically-motivated Supreme Court suddenly took over the legislative powers to make abortion legal?

Constitutional Amendment:

So elect a president that says so instead of pretending that new judges will make a change. The damage done by judiciary must be repaired.

It occurs to me that there is legitimate and constitutional grounds the legislative and executive branches could "override" the judicial branch. That's in the case of an impeachable offense. Justices willfully and wantonly not upholding the Constitution should be impeached. There's Constitutional backing for this. Your biggest problem would be the liberals in Congress. Maybe that's why this idea hasn't been brought forward. Maybe it should be...

Robertson hasn’t been paying attention. Giuliani EXCUSES himself for his urine-poor judicial appointments, saying he was constrained by the ‘system’ in NY State.

By that same token, he would be constrained by the Dims in the Senate from making all those juicy ‘strict constructionist’ appointments to the USSC.

It’s like Miss USA contestants swooning for ‘world peace’. Sounds meaningful, means nothing.

Great analogy!

I agree. Robertson has always been sleazy. I’ve seen him say dumb things like “Someone out there is being cured of cancer and they don’t even know they have it yet”.

Hey, that’s one we could all claim!

I am waiting for the day a secular humanist appointee converts to Christianity whilst serving on the court, the tables would most certainly have turned.

I believe GOD spoke to Reverend Robertson regarding the presidential election. I have prayed for our nation on a daily basis for years. And, for a little over a year, even I have the impression GOD wants me to support Mayor Giuliani.

I greatly appreciate that Pat has the courage to speak out on what GOD wants him speak out on. I have no doubt Pat knows up front that he will be ridiculed by many, misunderstood by others, and left twisting in the wind by fellow Christians. You couldn’t pay me any amount of money to judge the man.

I understand Mayor Giuliani opposed Roe v Wade back in
1963. Does anyone have a link to this item?
