Almost.
Not all conservatives wish to abolish science, but Huckabee is a step in that direction.
Yet there are still FReepers who wax ecstatic over Huck and darkly warn that Mitt is going to mix Mormonism with executive power.
Sometimes this place is too nuts to understand.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Huck’s crapola “Jesus socialism” only makes Rudy more competitive. It doesn’t help Mitt one bit.
One can be a scientist and not be an atheist and one can be an atheist and not be a scientist. Aside from those who wish to disparage science or religion, atheism and science are not naturally related.
Too bad Mitt converted to conservatism to run for President.
Since most of his positions on social issues are the exact 180 degrees opposite to his positions in 2005, he is really suspect to me.
I don’t know if I can trust him to do the right thing once in office or he just might switch again to his original long held beliefs.
Jesus socialism....... that’s funny. Huckster’s liberation theology
Not true!
The goal is to siphon votes from the one consistent electable conservative in the race, Thompson.
Mitt and Rudy with their horrible backgrounds are the number 1 and 2 choices for the media and Hillary to be the Republican Nominee.
They will cut either of them up in little shreds if nominated because they provide a target-rich environment of non-conservative positions on issues that are most important to conservatives.
Phyllis Schafly has Huckabee’s number and she’s no fool. Let’s hope somebody has the sense to stop him. I heard one reporter say Huckabee is joining Giuliani in attacking Romney in Iowa. I’d say Huckabee is planning to knock out Romney, thus guaranteeing himself a place as Giuliani’s vice president. It’s a probable tactic for a slime like Huckabee. Romney is the only one with the money and organization to stop Giuliani. With Fox shilling for Giuliani on a daily basis, somebody better step into Romney’s corner or we’re guaranteed that Giuliani’s the nominee.
“None of his four main rivals Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson and John McCain can claim to represent the Christian right.”
Nonsense.
Thompson can easily represent the Christian right if those voters look closely at his positions and think for themselves (i.e. ignore Dobson and Robertson).
Don’t worry Mr. Taibbi, I won’t fall for the Huck Shuck-n-Jive, aka the Hucky Pokey.
Why would you post a negative article about Huckabee here? You spend all your time online pimping your statist. If this is your way of trying to make yourself more real and believable, it won't work.
Try honesty for a change. It works.
He is a Democratic candidate. The libs just won’t stand for anyone who doesn’t gleefully endorse the dismembering of unborn human beings under the guise of “reproductive rights”.
Thus, Huckabee is stuck in the Republican party.
A baby killer like Rudy can run in the GOP and lead in the polls by double digits. If the Huckster had any guts, he would do the same thing, defy logic and challenge Hillary for the Dim nomination.
That’s why dano1 posted this. Just because the liberals hate you doesn’t mean their wrong. Even a broke clock...
His father is Mike Taibbi, an NBC television reporter.
MT: My father is a reporter [for NBC], and my whole life I grew up around reporters.
MT: I went to Bard College, but finished school in Leningrad. When I finished I stayed there and started freelancing in St. Petersburg and Uzbekistan. I worked for an English-language paper in Moscow for a while, a typical ex-pat paper. They had a lot of wire service and then straight reporting. I never really wanted to be a journalist and I became really frustrated with it, so I quit and played professional basketball in Mongolia for a while. But then I got sick and had to come back to the states. When I got better I decided I wasnt going to go back to straight journalism anymore, so I started up this humor paper [the eXile] in Moscow. I was the editor for about 6 years.
MT: It started when I was working in that paper in Moscow. I really loved Russia and I thought it was a great place. Unspoiled and different from America in such a great way, its so different. Everything in America is so uniform. In Russia everywhere you go is completely insane. In Russia, if you wake up in the morning to go do something youre supposed to do for your job and end up 100 miles away stone drunk with a bunch of strangers its totally OK. In America were so efficient. When the Americans came into Russia en masse in the mid 90s they all had this crusading missionary attitude like we have to change this place and turn it more into America. We have to take all these dingy old buildings and replace them with our gleaming corporate storefronts. We have to replace all these interesting idiosyncratic people and replace them with middle class managers who all want to buy IKEA furniture and go on vacations in Ibiza. They had a real missionary zeal about it.
MT: Ive got a bit of a case of the existential despair lately. I was having a lot more fun in Russia. In fact, I think Im only going to be here another year and then Im going to go back overseas somewhere. I might still do a little bit of reporting, but well see.
MJ: Having covered the campaign, were you surprised at the outcome of the election?
MT: No, I actually won a lot of money. In his book, Thompson obviously was betting money, and kept losing bets, and I bet everyone that I came into contact with that Bush would win. I never had any doubts about that. Although I have to say I was surprised that Kerry won the nomination. Hes definitely not a sunny personality. But hes not an idiot either, and Id still much rather have him in office than Bush.

In March 2005, Taibbi wrote a column for NY Press, entitled "The 52 Funniest Things About the Upcoming Death of the Pope". The column was criticized by Senator Hillary Clinton, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Matt Drudge, among others, including Congressman Anthony Weiner, who suggested that New Yorkers take copies of that issue out of their news boxes and destroy them.
