Americans love nothing better than a winner. As quickly as the public turned against the war, they may come to take pride in the freeing of Iraq and the creation of a democracy in the heart of the Middle East, capable of challenging and defeating the forces of Islamofacism.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
We are also great bandwagon fans...and love to adopt the once forgotten loser.
Detroit Lions..for example.
I hope you are right there, but there are powerful forces that want to do anything except acknowledge US victory. The Democrats and their MSM allies want US defeat and would rather eat hot coals than admit the US policy has succeeded.
I gather that a substantial number of voters make their choice at the last moment, based on who is most likely to win. The reason: They want to be associated with a winner; party, politics and policies don’t matter. It’s water cooler pride. “I picked the winner.”
These are the keys to VICTORY, a VICTORY that draws closer every day.
VICTORY :)
We could see a sea change in public opinion on Iraq. Who knows, people might even have more respect for Bush.
Kill a jihadist a day and they’ll eventually go away....
It all comes down to funding. We need 6 more months to 1 more year of full funding for the effort, and victory will be in hand. It will include permanent US military bases in Iraq, at the request of the Iraqi government.
It will also include devastation of the Democratic Party.
But that funding is not yet in hand. They are smelling the reality that they are funding victory. They hate this reality and what it is going to mean. They will talk among themselves and find a way to persuade themselves that forcing US defeat is best for the US because it keeps them in power.
Victory requires funding. The GOP must ATTACK. There must be an end to waiting for “the Democrat Iraq funding strategy”. The attack must be pointed directly at the faux conservative Democrats occupying Republican seats. Make speeches on the floor of the House, get coverage for them, and NAME THOSE CONGRESSMEN BY NAME and call upon them to support victory. Begin anew labeling Democrat bills “surrender verbage”.
The funding battle is critical. We must have full funding for victory. They know it and hate what it will mean. The only way to force them into it is a direct attack on their faux conservatives.
I have my suspicions, but I think Lee Harvey Oswald had help too.
Dems. are going to have to re-double their efforts at emboldening the enemy.
Compliments on a really brilliant post. The Dems. are going to go through every contortion imaginable to deny funding and to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The GOP has to go on the offensive here and call them on it. Time for some hardball.
These labels don’t seem right to me.
I don’t consider myself “pro-war”; but, I’m enough of a realist to know that war is sometimes necessary.
I’m pro-western civilization. If that could be preserved without war, I’d be ecstatic.
When it’s necessary for good men to do something, to keep evil from prevailing — then I’m pro-victory. That’s where I’m at regarding Iraq — a necessary war that I want the good guys (U.S. and coalition forces) to win.
Like most things, it will be partly true, but will omit the dedication and bravery of our troops in the field, as well as deft maneuvering by the administration behind the scenes (i.e. with Iran).
I concur with Hillary41Penitentiary...your post is absolutely on target and brilliant.
The Democrats as a party have adopted the Clinton M.O. - anything that keeps us in power. And that includes traitorous statements and activities.
