LOL. Yeah, I’d need to be hypnotized. Sam said he heard it wasn’t one of his best. It’s one book by Ambrose he doesn’t have. Hmmm, if you say it’s good then we’ll put it on our list to buy!
I think the fighter pilots and these big bomber crews were AF guys of a different breed. Then again, look at the AF and Navy Skyraiders in Vietnam. Some very brave folks. Guess we gotta love ‘em all. ;-)
I would have to agree with that. But you know me, I like just about any good war story. :-))
Do you know which B-24 your uncle was on? Mine was on the Sad Sack, and was in the Ploesti Raid. He was also a TSgt waist gunner. There’s a roster of planes somewhere on the Web.
‘prejudice about the Air Force’
‘but this book gave me a real appreciation for the hell those air crews went through time and time again.’
That’s because they were in the Army back then.
My cousin too had made a hard copy and then deleted it. I'm emailing her now to see if I can get the name of the plane. I'll get back to you.
Maybe the following site can help jog your memory. It’s the roster of planes involved in the Ploesti raid.

For years I used the same handle and password every where, but changed both when I joined the B-24 forum and never wrote them down. Shame on me.
My cousin Lynn hasn't responded yet, but she will. She always does, sometimes later, rather than sooner.
