Colorado Freepers should enjoy this discussion. I moved out of a liberal state. If you're looking for a conservative area in which to live, there are lots of things to be found on the above thread.

The trendy mountain towns (Vail, Aspen etc) are the most annoyingly liberal. A little town outside of Boulder, called Nederland, is one of the most liberal places in the US.

But outside of that, most of Colorado is not oppressively liberal. As others have said, Colorado Springs is your best bet. Longmont is also good, possibly because its close to liberal Boulder, so its an alternative. The Western Slope (West side of Rocky Mountains) is also good, but there are not a lot of jobs.

Oddly enough, even Boulder, if you stay out of the university area, is much less goofy headed liberal than people expect. Boulder has a lot of high tech jobs, which attract your basic level headed population.

South of Colorado Springs is solidly Democratic, but in a traditional-blue-collar-union kind of way, not in a goofy leftist kind of way.

Anyone coming from NY probably won't think it's too cold or snowy.
(I know, I know. I'm not supposed to tell anybody.)
