Stories like this is why he will be a winner to the majority that will elect him as president. He is genuine! Hilary can’t pretend, Rudy and Romney can’t fake it with their forced and failed sense of humor (wife calling him on a cell phone while he is addressing an audience) or the supposed “presidential look” of perfect hair and motivational speaker type persona “if I sound presidential then by golly, they will think I am presidential”. Way to go Fred, I think his determination and not listening to the pundits that want him out of the race by discouraging him with bogus polls and their lack of coverage of him, will show he truly is our next president.

Is the book on your “homepage” by David Horowitz any good? Haven’t seen that title before....

I’ve always wanted a president whom: 1) thought it was his duty to serve 2)Came from humble begginings.
Put that in line with his views, practical chance of winning, and you got a primary vote.

Anybody have those hilarious shots of John Kerry trying to be “one of the guys” at a bar on one of his campaign swings? Those are priceless.

I remember those. And the one where he is pointing his finger, and one of the marines looks like he would love to smack him across the face if he wasn’t on duty.
To: Blue Highway
Now if someone could just keep him from shooting himself in the foot with stupid statements like not having a chance of being elected. Sheesh!

Egan said. “He’s running because it needs to be done.”
That would make a choice tagline.

I haven’t actually read it yet myself. It’s one of the ones I am waiting for at the library to check out. It is a collection of his essays and some unpublished or out of print material. Definitely check it out if you appreciate Horowitz.

That was his dry wit, I thought it was humorous actually.
The first time I read the story, I actually mistakenly thought he was being even more cynical by implying he was already the president, when he was asked, "The next president of the United States has a schedule to keep." and then a deadpan Mr Thompson interjected: "And so do I." Even if he did intent to have that meaning (which he didn't I don't think) I would understand why people would be in an uproar, even though me personally would appreciate it as he is not a man with a huge ego and to say that would be an obvious joke it would seem.

I love hearing the opinions of WE THE PEOPLE, because that is why Fred Thompson is running. WE THE PEOPLE asked him to and he stepped up as an American who knows in his heart that our Country is in real trouble.

“She said Thompson looks like a president should look.”
He does, and he has the right attitude IMO. I think being consistant in the face of all audiences is something that people (I know I have) have been waiting for in politics for a long time. Those politicians that will say anything depending on the audience just creep me out.

“If Fred can keep being Fred, he will beat Hillary.”
He’s gotta beat Rudy McRomney first, but the more he personally comes into contact with voters, the more likely that is to happen. He has a long hill to climb. Bill O’Reilly was trashing him last night. O’Reilly and Dennis Miller went on yet another rant about how Rudy would save us all from ourselves.
