Wouldn’t issuing a driver’s license then make them “documented?” At least we’d have SOME way of tracking them.
To: neverdem
That’s not enough opposition. In fact, its that very opposition that will make drivers licenses for illegals possible. This is because we live in a Tyranny Of The Offended. One guy gets offended and a million people who weren’t offended are forced to change their ways.

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of American adults are opposed to making drivers licenses available to people who are in the country illegally. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 16% take the opposite view and believe that undocumented immigrants should be allowed to get a license. Ok, let's do the math,,,,77% opposed, 16% for,,,,77+16=93, what about the other 7%?

How many illegals do you believe are voting today using fake licenses?
To: neverdem
Sadly it does not matter what American citizens want anymore, a judge will just overrule the people using some obscure interpretation of the law and/or our elected officials will whore themselves out to the highest biddger - foreign or domestic.

An issue so easy, even a NY republican could take advantage of it.

Honestly, hadn’t thought about that. It’s too bad, because it would’ve at least tagged them. But I agree, obviously don’t want them voting Dem.

-there aren’t that many of them and I fear they are just like the ones in Washington. But somewhere they grew some common sense. Guess with Pataki gone they can pull themselves together.

The motivation behind this issue is the demorats intend to get them registered to vote. The biggest share of the illiterates always vote demorat. It isn’t rocket science to see the obvious.
To: rockabyebaby
The other 7% had to be removed from the survey, they were illegals...
