And if you wear a burka - you can just keep voting over and over again!

"While photo IDs seem harmless, they are in fact the modern-day poll tax," Ellison said, referring to the practice, extensively used in the South during the Jim Crow era, of imposing poll taxes to discourage black people from voting.

In 1964, Congress ratified the 24th Amendment, which banned poll taxes.

(scratching head)What the %$%# does that have to do with anything?

Oh well, stupid is as stupid does.

Having second thoughts on your political choice for congress yet 5th district?

We throw it around quite often about liberals as a whole, but this guy is the face of the enemies outside of this country we don’t see on a daily basis.

I wish there was even a slim chance that he’d ever be voted out of office...there’s not.

Like the other nutball Democrap legislation of late, this will gain no traction. It will only serve as further embarrassment to the Vermin Party.

I really wish we were more like Mexico in a few ways. Mexicans have a separate voter ID. It is intended only for voting, has a photo, signature and a thumbprint.

I don’t know the cost is in Mexico but for a comparable US ID it would be one of those rare things that I would advocate be given ‘free of charge’ (paid through taxes) to every US citizen eligible to vote.

WASHINGTON - In a challenge to the Bush administration, Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., introduced legislation Wednesday that would ban photo identification as a requirement for voting in federal elections. Ellison's bill reflects the Minnesota practice, which does not require photo ID for the purpose of voter verification. Ellison has a companion bill that mirrors the state's law allowing eligible voters to register for federal elections on Election Day.

This guy is serious about voter fraud - enabling it, that is.

John Tanner, chief of the Justice Department's Voting Rights Division, acknowledged that many elderly Americans don't have photo IDs but added: "Our society is such that minorities don't become elderly the way that white people do. They die first."

What a crock of horse biscuits. My mother no longer drives, but she still has a photo ID. My wife has never had a driver's license, but she still has a photo ID.

And guess what else? I worked as a poll watcher in 2004. An 86 year old black man was proud of showing his photo ID to check in, even though it wasn't required. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he was only voting once . . . because he was a Republican.

I'm so tired of this horse manure. Minnesota has a permissive voter registration law because it used to be a rural state-- everybody knew everybody else. You couldn't get away with fradulent multiple voting if you tried. North Dakota has an even more permissive voter registration law-- just show up on election day and vote. It works fine there because it is still a rural state where everybody knows everybody else. Up until the 1960's, North Dakota didn't even require driver's licenses. Anybody over 16 already knew how to drive-- whether they learned on a pickup on their uncle's farm or a tractor on their father's farm. But this was hardly a model for the rest of the country to follow.

Neither is Minnesota's or North Dakota's voter law. Not requiring photo ID does, in fact, discriminate against real citizens casting real ballots.

He’s the rep of the City of Minneapolis. There aren’t many of us Republicans in his area and we could do nothing about it. The only chance would be a moderate liberal (oxymoron I know)challenging him next time around.

Of dubious constituitionality, at best, since the Constitution allows that presidential electors are selected in a manner decided by the legislatures of the several states.
