We outran a hurricane a few years ago...
..we left Halifax heading for Prince Edward Island and the hurricane was coming up behind us...

..we just made it to our B & B in Charlottetown--- when it hit!

Probably won’t get the chance to post the Turkey for real!

Are you prepared just in case we get one like 2005’s tropical storm Zeta (December 30th)?

Noel is quickly going extra-tropical it would appear based on satellite images.

No direct hit on New England it seems, but it’s likely that Cape Cod and parts of Maine will see significant winds and perhaps some gusts above hurricane force.

... Damaging winds are possible Saturday in Rhode Island and
eastern Massachusetts...

... High Wind Warning in effect from 6 am Saturday to midnight EDT
Saturday night...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a High Wind
Warning... which is in effect from 6 am Saturday to midnight EDT
Saturday night. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.

Damaging north to northeast winds are likely Saturday... with the
period of strongest winds during the late morning and afternoon
hours. The high winds will subside during early Saturday evening.

Sustained winds of 40 to 50 mph are likely over the cape and
islands... with possible gusts up to 75 mph. It is possible that winds
could gust as high as 85 mph over the Outer Cape and Nantucket.

Winds will start out northeast during the morning and gradually
shift to the north during the afternoon.

A High Wind Warning is issued when sustained winds of 40 mph are
expected for at least an hour... with gusts of 58 mph or greater at
any time. Damage to trees... power lines... and property are possible
with wind of this magnitude. Power outages are likely. Take action
now to secure any loose outdoor objects.

Stay tuned to NOAA all hazards weather radio for updated
information. You can also visit the National Weather Service Taunton
website at weather.Gov/Boston.

... Very strong winds associated with intense low pressure may
affect downeast Maine Saturday afternoon and Saturday night...

... High wind watch remains in effect from Saturday afternoon
through late Saturday night...

A high wind watch remains in effect from Saturday afternoon
through late Saturday night.

North to northeast winds will increase to 25 to 40 mph with gusts
up to 70 mph later Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. Widespread
power outages may result from the combined impact of the strong
winds and heavy rainfall.

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Please continue to monitor NOAA Weather Radio or
your local media outlet for the latest forecasts.

... Damaging winds are possible Saturday in Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts...

We've got them today on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. All schools in the county are closing early today because of the winds and expected flooding when high tide hits at around 3 this afternoon and even worse flooding is expected with hightide overnight.

Thank you. I guess that’s what I get for only halfway paying attention. I was just waiting to see if we’d get a day off of school! Last year we did for one that didn’t even hit. It was great, we had a day off and it was beautiful! ;)
