Horse is delicious.
I’ve eaten it in Kazakhstan.
No joke.

another question people don’t talk about... What are you going to do with this pet weighing 1200 lb when it dies?
Ever try to drag one? or dig a hole for one? Just think, 212,000 of them.

Banning horse slaughter was a bad idea, based on emotion rather than reason. A lot of horses are being sent down to mexico for slaughter, I’m not even going to mention how they do it compared to here.

Don’t wait ‘til it dies. Horseburger, anyone?
Works in lots of countries. But in our PC/PETA dominated legal system, horses cannot be exported to be converted into horsemeat.
Too much sentimentality about ol’ Horace Horseneck.
Am I wrong?

It was a bad idea....and it was based on emotion.
The animals are a lot worse off than they were before.
This is what happens when “bleeding hearts” over-rule
vets, ranchers and farmers.

Can children eat horse? of course, of course. If they’re hungry enough. But they’re so pretty! Of course, of course. $60K pickup and $40K trailer to haul them around at $3.00 gas for what? To show that they’re pretty. Get a life and eat the GD things. They’re tastier than cats. Woodchucks are a close second.

I feel badly for the starving horses.
But thank goodness my horse-mad niece can't fully read yet.
Otherwise my brother and sister-in-law might find a herd of "adopted" horses
on their doorstep.
And without a billionaire in the extended family...we can't afford
that sort of charity!

You hit the nail on the head. While I would not wish to eat Roy's Trigger or the Lone Ranger's Silver, there are times when one must put aside any emotional attachment to an animal and realize that there is a trade in horse meat. The ban has only made these 212,000 horses tomorrow's welfare cases.
Be assureed if there was any possibility of an equine voting block...
the Democrats would have then signing up for drivers licenses!

I’d turn them loose in the “Progressive” areas of major cities across the country.

I love horses, always have and always will, but I’m also realistic about them. I knew banning horse slaughter was going to be a disaster from the git-go.

American Horse Council, meet unintended consequences.
We were given an old horse and were unsuccessful getting it nursed back to health. After it assumed room (pasture) temperature, we called all over the place trying to find one of the guys that -used- to pick dead ones and haul them to the rendering plant. No takers. We found one place that would bury it for $150. Ended up dragging it to the back with a tractor for the buzzards and coyotes.

I was deployed to Uzbekistan 2003-04. Ate locally many different kinds of `shashlik’.
Where was this photo taken? BTW, UZ is one meat eating place. The Uzbek national diet is very pro-Atkins.
