There isn't a single Swedish product that I use (that I know of). Time to look into that, though.

We need a patriot American billionare to fund a yearly 'Nazi Enablers" Prize to honor Sweden...

Errr. I think the Nobel Prize is out of Norway, but Sweden's close. ;~))

You could always boycott dynamite. Sales of that 100 years ago are what funds the Prize even today.

My point is that the premise of this article makes sense only if the committee agrees with the author, but chose Al Gore anyway.

Unless the committee members aren't the true believers you suggest they are, but are wholly supportive of the Leninist aims behind the mythology of man-made global warming. In which case, they wouldn't agree with the author at all and the article's premise would make perfect sense.

Given the sheer volume of lies and distortions required to advance Gore's alarmist fantasies, it's a safe bet the leftist elites at the Nobel Committee are probably in on the joke. The true believers are the sheep on the receiving end of the propaganda Gore and the committee are selling.

So the author's premise isn't based on faulty reasoning at all. It's based on the most likely scenario: that the committee members aren't concerned citizens voting in good faith, but lying left-wing propagandists who use the award every year to inflate the reputation and credibility of another lying left-wing propagandist.

“Unbelievable that they chose Gore!”

Are you for real? He was the only one they would have given it to. Its not like there was a person who managed to save thousands of children from the Warsaw ghettos during WW2 also in the running...Oh yea, there was someone like that!

The leftists on the Nobel Committee went with the politically correct winds. Algore is the embodiment of the modern Left's hatred of humanity and the wonders of civilization.

Gore-basm Nobel Prize PING.

With this award to Gore, the Nobel committee has disgraced themselves to the point of irrelevence. They have made bad choices before, notably Arafat, but this has an additional obvious error - global warming, even if it is an issue, has nothing to do with peace. They have made a purely political statement with the award, an “attaboy, globaloney alarmists!” The committee members are nothing but a tool of leftwing political agitation at this point. This prize is unjustified but worse sends and endorsement that is ignoring the hyperbole and mis-statements from Gore, the politicization of science that the IPCC has engaged in, and buying into the phony ‘consensus’ that claims the uncertain science is more certain than it is.

Shame on them.

True, but they have been for a number of years now. This particular award doesn't mark the end of an era, per se, but it should prove to any reasonable person that the committee's commitment to humanity is as fraudulent as Gore's commitment to mother nature.

Of course, if you can't see the latter, you certainly won't be able to see the former.

the modern Left's hatred of humanity and the wonders of civilization.

Which represent their hatred of God.

That's what this war is all about, ultimately.

FR is awesome.
Thank you. I was away from FR for a couple of hours, and like magic...
Just what I was hoping to see.

Carter’s did have some justification — but Arafat’s.......

Can you elaborate on that?
Real achievement should never be judged by "good intentions" --- and in retrospect, total ignorance.

If you want to go around making up scenarios to fit a theory, I suppose that one would work.

But it's not necessary to add that many levels of deception and conspiracy to get the same result.

Granting that they're left of center, there's a much simpler (and observable) explanation for their votes. I've heard from and talked to enough folks who have bought into the global warming stuff, and who are generally nervous about environmental issues, to recognize the same basic dynamic in the Nobel committee.

There's simply no reason to explain it as some sort of communist plot.

It’s hardly inconceivable that many liars are fully aware that they’re lying. Especially at the highest levels of a movement based on a foundation of lies, whether it’s the international socialist movement or its off-spring, the church of global warming.

Gore has made a conscious decision to deceive the public on this issue. I suspect the leftists on the Nobel Committee have as well. It’s not a grand conspiracy or a far-reaching plot. It’s just fellow travelers doing what they know.

And doubting their sincerity isn’t making up scenarios. It’s doubting their sincerity. And the doubt is very well-founded.

You’re not “doubting their sincerity,” you’re claiming that they’re members of a Leninist conspiracy. Quite a difference there.

Much as I deplore Carter, while President and since, I have to admit that he did bring Begin and Sadat together and a peace deal was reached which still stands.

“Supportive of Leninist aims” is the phrase I used, because the global warming myth is a Leninist creation.

I said nothing about a conspiracy. Conspiracy implies organization, coordination, window-less rooms, Jewish bankers and cigarette smoking men. I merely said they’re fellow travelers working toward the same end.

Yes, and once they destroy all bastions of freedom they can rewrite history
as "freedom failed on it's own" therefore it is.

Only if you consider the global spread of communist theory that’s been happening for more than 150 years under the brand names of Marx, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, et al to be a conspiracy in the dismissive context in which it was used. You do. I don’t.

Really, if you think about it, it’s the same disagreement we started with.

It’s a political award with no real credibility.
