Way to go, Fred!!
One thing I’ve liked about Fred is he seems to say what he means, mean what he says, and to get things right, even when you might think he isn’t.
Given Giuliani’s minor factual problems noted, I imagine the facts will be in Romney’s favor as well. I guess someone will argue over “fees vs taxes”.

Factcheck.org is a POS.
Wonder why they're out to get Rudy? They must think he's a more of a threat than Fred.

For coming into such a charged and biased venue cold, FRed did fine. He hasn't been memorizing and working off talking points that some of the other "polished" candidates have studied and repeated in the past 6 months (wasted time while no one but the MSM was listening), but as time goes by, he will provide more detailed answers, as needed.
The way to win is not to peak too early and to remain "true to your convictions" and to continue to resonate with the guy on the street. (That's FRed's big advantage among the conservative candidates).

Even Chrissypoo was pretty fair to Thompson yesterday.
Fred will only improve over time, methinks. He won’t get into a pissing contest like Romney and Rooty did.

"I guess someone will argue over fees vs taxes.
It's a point worth debating. If the terms are used correctly, taxes are mandatory payments to government (the same, regardless of what services you use); fees are optional payments for government goods and services that you actually want. Where ever they're practicable to collect, fees are more economically efficient than taxes. OTOH, taxes tend to ding the "rich" more than the "poor", and are considered more economically equitable, at least by those who favour income redistribution. That's why the left usually prefers taxes to fees.

That's because Rudy doesn't HAVE any facts.

I’ve been waiting for someone to call Giuliani on cutting taxes.
NYT: The Mayor said he had stopped resisting the elimination of the income tax surcharge because the surcharge would expire on Dec. 31, and the city could not continue it without the State Legislature’s approval. He said the city would have to make budget cuts during the next few years to make up for the loss of the 12.5 percent surcharge, which was first imposed in 1991 and brings the city $550 million a year in tax revenues.
Now he says that he opposed it because spending should have been cut first. Perhaps this is true in a perfect world, but politicians will not cut spending until forced to. Even then they will look for more to spend.

...The mayor falsely claimed Clinton proposes to give $1,000 to "everybody." Her proposed subsidies to workers' retirement accounts would be for couples making up to $60,000 a year and would be $500 for those making up to $100,000.Giuliani is such a damn liar! Clinton is proposing to give $1000 to "purt 'neer everbody" - not "everybody". The nerve!
Talk about picking at nits.
Disclaimer: I am not a proponent of Giuliani. I am merely playing one for the purposes of this reply.

“On Tuesday, she abandoned her widely ridiculed “baby bonds” in favor of a plan, funded by robbing the graves of “the rich,” to give Americans earning less than $100,000 a year a 401(k), into which the government would deposit up to $1,000 annually. She apparently figured out babies don’t vote.”
This has been widely reported nationwide.

I believe you're correct.
Right now, Rudy and Mitt think they are the only ones who "matter", and they ignore the others as if they weren't there.
FRed will be attacked when they see him as a threat (he will be), and it won't be long before they try to discredit/challenge him.

Wonder why they're out to get Rudy? They must think he's a more of a threat than Fred. Maybe because Giuliani's facts weren't correct and Thompson's were? I'm sure they would have been more than happy to trash Fred if he stretched the truth or made outright false statements.

Correction, Oct. 11: This article originally said the debate was held in Detroit. It was held in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. So, FactCheck got their facts wrong, and they even had time to review and edit before publishing...
