That was my thought too. Only the ex gfs family knows no one else yet. I dont want to scare them especially since right now the others are just still speculation, but it is 3 girls, 2 boys, the gunman, and 1 other male officer.
Crandon is about 60 miles from where I live. For some reason, it just seems more shocking when something like this happens in a tiny, little town. It will take a very long time for the town to get over this.
plus 7% of them are Indians. The Potowatami Nation has its court in this town.
A little alcohol, a couple of people with livers not in tune with that substance, and bingo.
What kind of cr*p are you spewing?
May I respectfully suggest you put a cork in it...
It’s a holiday weekend. If one of the kids has parents who are out of town, it’s going to take time to reach them and officials wouldn’t want them getting the news on the radio, so it’s not unusual to sit on the names until all the parents can be located. The rest of the parents know their kid didn’t come home. That pretty much tells them what they need to know.
I missed something. Two cops are dead?
Honestly, I am still not sure that it has completely sunk in yet for many people. This sort of this just does NOT HAPPEN HERE. I moved my kids from the city to live here where it is/was safe! Where I did not have to worry about them. Just goes to show no where is safe.
cover up or try to prevent the perp - who was at the time, still on the loose with a gun, from shooting more people? Most people who have just murdered a bunch of people isn't going to hesitate to shoot more -
But now, evidently, he is also dead - so all the arm-chair know-it-alls experts can relax...
Hard call. I think I'd withhold pending notification of next of kin. It may not be the "right" thing to do, but it is the custom to allow them the dignity of being told in person, by some one who can be with them and cry with them or otherwise console them as needed.
One of my friend’s family found out about her father’s death through the media. It’s not the way to do it.
When the PD sends out the bearer of the bad news, it’s usually someone who has or is accompanied by someone with experience in grief counseling.
Bad things can happen anywhere. JMO but I think small towns overall are safer.
Yes the deputy that was the shooter and he shot the first officer on the scene. So two cops total including the gunman.
Really? This is said to have happened at 3 a.m. and that being the case how did people get to church or other places with the town on "lock down" for their protection with the perp still on the loose with his gun in such a tiny town?
Not exactly usual for that age group. When I was 18-21 I attended more post-midnight parties than I can remember.
"I'm guessing no one is going to miss the party guests that got shot."
I strongly suspect your guess is wrong.
Don't do it.
Ok, I’m off to work. Check in later...
He took it upon his young shoulders to tell the boy’s mom, and was grieving with her when his friend walked in.
It wasn’t he who had drowned, but a child from up river who looked like him.
My dad regrets to this day (he’s 81 now) what he put the mom through that day.
usual = unusual.
Per FOX- press conf from Crandon coming up within the next hour or two..
Whew!
