I think you are confused about the difference between those who claim, in a general sense, to be Christians, and those who have made an actual profession of personal faith in Christ Jesus.
People in the US do the same thing - they self-identify as Christians even though they really have no concept of what it means to be one. People have a tendency to just check off whatever box they think their parents fit into - if their parents were Protestants (as most Germans at that time probably were) then they’d check off the “Protestant Christian” box when surveyed. It’s just a label for them. It’s real for the true Christian, which I am quite certain Hitler was not. Could he have been converted before his death? Possibly, but “ye shall know them by their fruits.” His fruits were sour and rotten.
Only when examined by someone not interested in understanding evolution.
Not every species is cooperative, but some are. Humans are not really capable of living outside a community, and communities foster cooperation.
Dawkins chief problem is his rampant inconsistency. His book title declares God to be a delusion, meaning God is non existent, but later declares he cannot prove God does not exist. He tells us that evolution is driven by the selfish gene, and then later argues that selfish evolution ultimately produced unselfish people, who build hospitals to preserve the old, sick and weak, necessitating that ruthless natural selection reverse direction and do the exact opposite, endowing DNA with an altruistic compassionate mindset, along with a conscience. Richard Dawkins worldview has far too many credibility sapping inconsistencies and logical errors to take him seriously.
