Sitetest, thank God the tumor was benign and you went to John Hopkins. I live close to the Stanford Medical Center, but I would want my child to go to John Hopkins if they had a brain tumor.

Dr. Ben Carson is the chair of the Pediatric Neurosurgery department there. I am sure only the best neurosurgeons work on his staff. He’s a very inspirational man who was raised in the ghetto and became the Chair of Pediatric Neurosurgery at John Hopkins at the age of 33. I highly recommend his 3 books: “Gifted Hands”, “Think Big”, and “The Big Picture”. He is a devout Christian that feels that God is guiding his hands and listening to his prayers as he performs these operations. He became famous for leading the separation of the Binder twins (conjoined at the head) twenty years ago.

Hopefully you and your son will have a chance to meet Dr. Carson during one of your visits there.

I feel so blessed that I was born in New Mexico instead of (old) Mexico. Your family is lucky to live in a country with the best medical care in the world. Too bad the politicians don’t understand that.

Dear Conservative Vet,

My son’s surgeon was recruited to Hopkins by Dr. Carson. He's the Director of Clinical Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins. He reports to Dr. Carson. From what I understand, our surgeon is an expert in the particular family of tumors that my son has. I imagine that's why he caught the case.

I must honestly tell you that before all this happened, I couldn't identify by name anyone in the field of neurosurgery. I never heard of Ben Carson, or my son's neurosurgeon, or any of the other doctors that we've encountered, many of them world-beating specialists. I believe that God chose our doctors. The doctors that He chose are far, far better than anyone I could have found, especially, as it actually happened, in a matter of hours.

Boy, you said it there.
