Another substantive response from another FReeper who lives in fantasy land.
Of course, we now control both houses of Congress because Americans so love George W. Bush and so support the war.
I don't think you're dancing; I think you've got the political DT's.
Romney knew damn well what was being said. Rush called his office and was told that this was Romney’s statement but that he would change it if asked. In other words he wasn’t going to change it because it was the right thing to do, but woudl change it only if he was AKSKED to do so. He wasn’t asked as of Rush’s show yesterday but he changed it later when he saw what a bone head move it was. Romney KNOWS what was said, he knew it at the time it was said and he has no excuse. My assesment of you still stands, you are a believer who refuses to see what a low life Romney really is.
BTTT
It is pretty clear if you step back and look at the story with an unbiased eye that Huffington Post hit Madden with a question regarding Rush's statement without providing the full context in which it was said and once Romney realized the mistake Madden had made, they corrected it. My opinion of you still stands, you are a Mitt-basher who freely makes excuses for your candidate in similar situations and employs a double standard for Mitt.
I would like to see the polling on this Rush stuff. Is it making the Congressional Dems more popular, or less popular?

Th one thing that’s concerned me the most about Fred is a nagging feeling I have that he might not be quick and aggressive enough to take on the Witch. This move, quickly supporting Rush before any of his primary opponents got around to doing it, shows he just might have those essential qualities. The other very good thing about it is that it’s a move against our mutual enemies, not a circular firing squad move.
By the way, when’s Rudy going to say something???
President Fred... get used to it.
LLS
Exactly my sentiments. NO circular firing squads. Our candidates should compete exclusively on which can best call out and pound the Witch and the other DemonRats.
My problem with all of this is the vehicle he used to get his comments out. Why the Huffington Post? The only more liberal blog would have been something over at DU.
How ironic that MoveOn.org’s modus operandi is GOTCHA, and then when Freepers take offense to this, they turn right back around and start playing GOTCHA with Romney and others.
GOTCHA is petty and stupid - but it’s fun for political hacks...and there are quite a few of those around here.
The campaigns initial response was to a left-wing site and reinforced the idea that the claims against Limbaugh were valid, wrapped in a vague expression of general support for the troops.
Then, when dragged onto the Hewitt show to "clarify" those remarks, Romney still acts like a weak sister, implying that the story still had merit but that he believes Rush's explanation. No forceful calling of the initial story bogus 9which it clearly is). No criticism of Hillary's mouthpiece Media Matters. No criticism of Reid and company and their despicable actions using the weight of the Senate to try and suppress a private individual's speech.
It was a day late and a dollar short from Romney.
Rudy’s been silent on RUSH, wow, what a surprise.
That is Rudy’s mistake.
I notice that after condemning Mr. Limbaugh, Mr. Romney called MR. HEWITT rather than Mr. Limbaugh to straighten out the situation.
This speaks volumes. Mr. Romney is a coward as well as a fraud.
Any true conservative’s reaction would be “Rush did not say that. Prove it!” not to just accept that he insulted the troops.
Romney shot himself in the foot with this one.
