There are many other revenues to run the government. Bringing the troops home from Iraq would save a bunch of money.

No, there aren't. Review the examples again.

No, he says he will have a uniform but not a protectionist tariff. Our tariffs are so low that a uniform tariff of 10% will probably increase our tariff revenue close to 10 times.

First you should note upthread that another Paul supporter contends that Paul is opposed to tariffs. I question that, since he votes against bills which would lower tariffs.

A 10% tariff on all imports is an additional source of income. I question whether it's the best course of action, it would require abrogation on numerous treaties, and I doubt it would provide the necessary income. You need more than 10 times current customs revenue. Has he actually proposed this and is there any data to back the proposal up?

Just because you don’t know it doesn’t mean he hasn’t laid our his plan.

That’s true, he should make his plans public.

With its tendency to ignore its base, its own platform, even, and shoot itself in the foot all the time, not to mention ignoring the very supreme law of the land when it’s in power, I would say that the Pubbie party is the VERY Stupid Party... but, hey, that’s me... being silly and thinking that the things I mentioned are important to a political party. Let alone the Country.

I didn’t have either a calculator or the time to do the numbers, but in getting rid of ALL the UnConstitutional spending (and, per the Tenth Amendment, if it’s not specified as OK for FedGov, it’s NOT AUTHORIZED to FedGov to do), it would take FAR less money and a different system could be put in place that would be constitutional AND provide the legitimate needs of FedGov. That was my point.

Paul's proposals are completely unworkable.

He's not running for dictator, and would have to contend with Congress, and Congress would have to contend with him.

Who knows what might come out of the interaction, but it would be nice to at least have an advocate of smaller, constitutionally limited government at the table for a change.
