And all the UN gives a crap about is global warming.

That's not true! Didn't you read Bar-Ki-Moon's press release?

He also called on Burma's military leaders to show restraint in the face of continued pro-democracy protests led by Buddhist monks.

either passive-aggressive or a complete pussy.

Don’t worry, everyone. I’m sure the UN will get right on this.

It is, pandy. But I expected as much. Beijing turns a blind eye and the UN sit on their collective thumbs. I only hope the Burmese people will see that they have one chance to end this tyranny. The thugs will have to start disappearing and mysteriously turning up dead by any means possible. Oddly enough I don’t think it’s in their mindset to do that and yet the thugs come from the same society.

I am unsure of the politics in this region

It's a socialist Military regime whose official Junta name is the State Peace and Development Council

While I don’t expect the mainstream to give it much play, I don’t think this story will go away. I know FR will give it many, many bumps.

I’m surprised by the silence from Hollywood about this.

Well, maybe not...

From the article:

Now the military has cracked down the revolt, and the result may very well be that the regime will enjoy another 20 years of silence, ruling by fear.'

One of the innumerable Blessings that we in the United States enjoy is the freedom to speak and to protest against injustice and, in this case, unvarnished and unrepentant Evil.

Naturally, I'm not advocating any form of criminal activity.

I am merely suggesting that there are innumerable ways in which decent people can register and communicate their profound disgust with a murderous, evil regime that is long overdue to be overthrown, by any means necessary..

“While I don’t expect the mainstream to give it much play, I don’t think this story will go away. I know FR will give it many, many bumps.”

The mainstream won’t give it any play, to speak of. What really has to happen is for some of the leading conservative candidates, and GW, to use their bully pulpits and do some ranting and raving for a change!

I’ve been waiting for years for one of them to stand up to a microphone and just go stone crazy on some of these pieces of dog squeeze!

I’d like to hear GW stand up and tell these thugs in Burma that we are coming with both guns blazin’ to rip them a new one!
(Oh yea. AND FOLLOW UP ON IT!)

Just don’t send anything that can be considered hate speech, or you’ll have some jack-boots kicking in YOUR door!

The media will not risk there lives, ...

They would definitely be risking their lives. Just a few days ago there were pics of a Japanese journalist shot down in the street and reports that a Swedish journalist had also been shot dead. If there has been any strong protest from those governments I haven't heard of it yet. These thugs don't fear anything and it seems they have little reason to.

The U.N. isn’t going to touch it because each permanent member of the security council has existing financial deals with the ruling government.

U.S. - Chevron
U.K. - BP
France - Total
China - various gas contracts
Russia - trying to sell the Myanmar government a nuclear reactor

India’s Oil Minister was just in the region to sign more energy contracts when the protests started.

Washington DC chapter ping request.

Would a “FReep” at the Myanmar (Burmese) embassy be something worth considering?

What they have done is absolutely monstrous, and they maintain a U.S. Embassy.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

U.N. would issue a condemnation, but they can’t blame the jews for this.
