Don’t you think that is exactly what Fred Thompson is doing?

Part of me wants to tell Newt to shut the F up. But part of me fears he is right.

"I believe for any Republican to win in 2008, they have to have a clean break and offer a dramatic, bold change," he said.

I certainly agree with that, Newt. Bold change like drastically reducing the welfare state and guarding our borders and deporting illegals in earnest. ....for starters.

When pigs fly, unfortunately.

What the Hell does Newt think Ron Paul is doing? Ron Paul is the ONLY GOP candidate that is offering pure, 100% traditional conservatism and an end to the quasi-socialist status quo that threatens to turn this nation into a 3rd world basket case. He has total grassroots support and is drawing in voters from all over the political spectrum. Newt Gingrich is a flipping joke, I don't know why FReepers worship this man, he's a total fraud who got PW3ND by the Clintons.

Ah yes... all of the MSM favorites are 'in awe' of the MSM machine.

At this rate Newt will soon be the new 'mavrick republican' and will sink below mcstain, who has been on his best behavior as of late.

Just a year ago was in this mode as well.

As much as I admired Newt, his whining is getting on my nerves. The sky is always falling with this guy in this campaign.

Didn't get a chance to read through the entire thread, but I ask:

What in the hell is she gonna win in the south??

and of course my second question:

Nearly half of Americans polled (many times) have consistently said that they won't vote for her under any circumstances. How does she win with one of the largest negative ratings for a non-incumbent in recent history?

“What Republicans need is an American version of French President Nicholas Sarkozy, who boldly broke with his party’s leader, then-President Jacques Chirac, on the way to victory earlier this year. “

How very true!

The proper term here is solopcism. The belief that your own experience is the sum total of all experience.

Republicans must break with President Bush and separate themselves from the current state of the political system, he said, and so far none of the current candidates has met that test. But he also made clear that there is now almost no likelihood that he will become a candidate himself, having too little money, too much baggage and too much impatience for a successful campaign.

Ol'Newt needs a chill pill and a dose of reality check! This is not 1994?...he sounds like a king maker wannabe...ummm, well, I have my doubts!

I’m starting to agree with Newt, I don’t think its likely we will win in 2008. The electoral votes just don’t add up.. I think my guy Romney has the best chance by winning in the midwest and carrying the south, maybe breaking into some liberal strongholds like new england. But by appealing to such differing constituencies he has to be on all sides of a couple major issues.

I’m nearly looking to 2012, and hoping Petraeus will run.
