Iirc, Ie Shima was where 1st MAW did much of its “blue bomb” ground support training.
I spent a few days in the range tower back in ‘80. It was a good learning session for me. I came away with a much deeper appreciation for the difficulties and risks of the ground attack pilots.

I was also a missile gunner. 0351 in a Weapons Company. Dragon gunner. Went to the school at Camp Hanson to pick up 0352 but the class got rained out on our live fire test day.

Camp Schwab. Lots of memories.

They will, if not here, one day in the future, see Hebrews 9:27.

“Welcome aboard, boot!”

Everyone’s got to start somewhere. But, I will testify, under oath if necessary, that I did already pass E-Tool Quals. No need to spend another cover just to verify.

Ab Triarios Redisse!

The results were quite sad for these Iraqi families, but SSgt. Wuterich’s account sounds pretty straightforward. Thanks for posting this, Red.

Good Morning, Red, and thanks for this.

These few sentences, that I'm sure the press and the party of treason has known of since the start, would have completely changed public perception had they been reported;

Within the next several hours we located and killed insurgents in a house north of our position and we killed another suspected insurgent fleeing from the scene along a ridgeline. We watched as rotary winged aircraft deployed hellfires and dropped bombs on houses directly to our south. We remained on over watch for the majority of the rest of the day.

The press and left side of congress has done everything possible to make this look like an isolated massacre wreaked upon a sleepy village instead of one of many responses to a planned ambush by our enemy.

But then we already knew that. If the current turbo charging of the sleaze ball left wing anti defense rhetoric/fact rearranging surrounding General Petreus/ Ambassador Crocker's report to Congress doesn't make apparent the drive by media's coordinated efforts to rewrite history, nothing will.

Color me cruel but I see nothing done to any of those families that wasn’t fully deserved and earned.

There’s no way an ambush of that size and complexity gets set up without everyone in the area playing along.

We really need to start reworking our cultural definition of “innocent civilian” in wars such as this.

Well, more than likely at least some of the Iraqis were aware of the placement of the IED in the road. As far as the rest of the activities that day, who knows. It is always sad when children are killed. That being said, this is the nature of the enemy. They do not hesitate to put children in the mix. If our own Marines do not hesitate to defend themselves, then the enemy and some in our own media claim a massacre. And that I do not believe.
