You notice the Muslims keep doing this kind of stuff, the flying Imaams, etc., to disrupt flights and get attention. just to keep the public stirred up and letting us know they are out there.

I fly every week, unless I am on vacation or in training.
I am not worried, frankly, that if a bunch of greased-up would be martyrs try something, I would be alone in acting to stop them. I KNOW from conversations with fellow travelers [ men and women] that the passengers would just keep coming after them until it was over.

...and they were let go???? Assuming that everything in that article is accurate, I can’t fathom that at least some of these people weren’t held on some charge. Am I missing something here?

I think their agenda is worse. They are pushing to make the PC crowd make it illegal to question their presence. That way when it is the real deal, no one will be able to anything about it.

This sounds as if this might possibly have been more than just a trial run.
Frankly, the FBI cannot be trusted to tell the truth about these things. They lie to the public “for their own good.” Since these were evidently Saudis, the pressure was probably on from above to let them go and brush the whole thing under the rug.

Agreed, these practice runs with non-illegal substitute (dummy) equipment that resembles the real thing are recon and prep for a more successful attack.

"It was all benign," said Dave Couvertier, the FBI agent from the Tampa, Florida Orlando FBI office.WHY IN THE F^$K DO THEY KEEP TRYING TO DOWNPLAY THIS STUFF? Remember Annie Jacobson and the Syrian "musicians"? The DHS downplayed that story and actively discredited Jacobson as a paranoid, xenophobic loon, which couldn't have helped her career as a journalist. Then information was released under FOIA that corroborated everything Jacobon said, and Michael Jerkoff and the rest of the useless bureaucrat morons at DHS had nothing to say. No explanation, no apology, NOTHING. We're in the middle of a g$%damn war, and citizens are castigated for reporting suspicious activity, and now we're supposed to believe a bunch of arabs with bomb-making materials trying to get on a flight is "benign"?
Go take a long walk off a short pier, Dave Couvertier.

I like to think that as these rats are free to go back to their holes (mosques), the FBI is keeping an eye on them.
But I’m surely being far too optimistic.

We can only hope that Jack Bauer trailed them back to their headquarters. Unfortunately, Jack is fictional and the government is incompetent.

Definitely at least a trial run.
They had all the components, at least simulated, for IEDs.

Even more disconcerting, TSA and security officials observed that two of the Middle Eastern men intended for the flight had smeared Vaseline on their arms and neck areas -- a common tactic among hand-to-hand fighters who want the advantage in the event someone tries to grab them or put them in a headlock.
It was all benign...

One or two of them had three jars of Vaseline duct-taped together forming a cylinder of hydrocarbons in their luggage. Now why would anybody do that?
The only reason I can think of is to see if a cylinder full of hydrocarbons would get through security. Benign?

Incredible isn't it? Law enforcement in this country is so afraid of PC-ness and defense lawyers, that obvious conspiracies to commit acts of terrorism, (which is what a "dry run" is) are not prosecuted. These Jihadi scum should be in prison for life, or better yet, hung by the neck until dead.
