"Aetna premium payers and shareholders should not be required to pay for this elective (abortion) procedure," he wrote. I wonder how many other elective procedures they cover.

So, they cover elective surgeries that they think will probably save them money in the future.

Yet, there is no coverage ( or very little) for any counseling prior to or after an abortion! No money for mental health at a time when the woman really would need support and help.
To: wagglebee
Exactly, purely economics. It costs them significantly less to pay for an abortion than a birth.
This is one time I’m sorry to see market forces and the almighty dollar reign supreme.

I have AETNA through my employer, and they suck.
I couldn’t get a broken tooth fixed for over a year, for less than $2,500.00 of deductible (they didn’t accept my dentist, but didn't have have any others within 50 miles on their plan), but they cover abortions????
WTF!!!

And the next logical step will be euthanasia. Why pay for a heart bypass when you can just get the insured off the books forever.

Of course not....why should they be accountable to save people...unless of course they believe unborn babies are not “people” yet? It’s sick.

In his July 2 letter to Aetna President and CEO Ronald Williams, Auten noted that Aetna, like most insurance providers only covers procedures that are "medically necessary". However, Auten noted that Aetna has made an exception for abortion where there is no restriction on coverage. And they won't sell policies that are more restrictive either. So much for "choice".

So when you have your choice in the matter—if you are self-employed, or for Medigap insurance—AVOID AETNA!! And let them know why.
To: wagglebee
Hell, that’s the goal of all government entities in the entire state of CT.
