Congratulations, you have taken your first step into a much larger world.... [grin] .... I always wanted to use that line.

Linux has become a lot easier in the past five years or so. Along with OpenOffice, Firefox, and a few other decent apps and it has become a real workhorse.

... Now if I can get Quickbooks ported to Linux.

lol...great line!
If I would have known Linux was this much fun I would have tried it years ago. It’s like a game with the Universe and the Multiverse...so many treasures to find!

For all the folks whining and moaning about warranties on here - just don't come crying to me if you buy a laptop with no extended warranty. At least a Gateway! We were talked into purchasing a Gateway (against our better judgment, but having not been reading a ton about them lately, we weren't sure... Rep assured us that Gateway had "changed" and was now better). Thank God we bought the warranty. I've brought the thing in about 5 times now. Sick. Next time I'm buying HP. But I may still buy the extended warranty. This one sure paid for itself about 20 times over (new MOBO, new screen, new batteries, power cables (multiple), new back plate).

That said, I haven't ever bought a new desktop PC. Not once. I used to own an IBM, but that was a gift. Build your own, they are far more reliable and easier to care for!!!

“That’s right, a new BLANK spreadsheet. I had to laugh.”

You didn’t tell them to take an existing one, and just use white out on the screen to make a blank one?
