Thanks for the ping. Years ago on the Marburg surveillance thread, I suspected that migratory bats may have had some part in the progression of the disease. The bats, some of which can get fairly large, are seen as a delicacy, and droppings might be on fruit or in areas primates would gather, from caves to areas around fruit trees.

It will be interesting to see what role they play in the pathology of the disease.

Oh Yeah.
They tend to make facts fiction and vice versa.

I saw a good documentary of a Doctor who goes to Cuba to care for the sick kids.
He was very honest.
He got so P.O.ed in one part because he paid to get his passports and then was told that they had run out of paper.
Man he was steamed. Had his wife and kid with him. Don’t know if he ever got to leave Cuba and go to his home country.
I had to get back to chores.

It was on Doc day Sundance.
I love it Cadillac is one of Sundances big sponsers/ads.

Green Earth programs on Sundance brought to you by Cadillac. LOL
I think this whole Gore Warming is just another way to make a money. It sells to the kids and hippies.

I have read that bats carry Marburg and Ebola, which are both Filoviruses. I would not be surprised if they carry those two horrible diseases.

Ultra Mini though no meat, darn.
Amazing how they can walk across the thin crust of the molten lava.

One of the scientist tried to be funny and said we can even here this crab eating (zoom into lil crab) Crunch, crunch, crunch chime in with sound effects of scientist eating chips in the sea cab. Humor and Marine biologist IMO not exactly Peanut Butter n Jelly.

However if you lived here you could steam your own fresh crab half a mile down the road after a day on the bay. (now your going to be thinking of fresh dungenous all nite, I am a bad girl)

Haemorrhagic fever kills more than 100
-----------------------------------
More than 100 people have died in a remote part of the Democratic
Republic of Congo, the result of a suspected haemorrhagic fever
epidemic, local health officials said today.

People began dying of the suspected fever 2 weeks ago near Mweka, an
area in the province of Kasai Occidental, said Jean-Constatin Kanow,
the chief medical inspector for the province. "We began by suspecting
typhoid fever, but now we believe it's haemorrhagic fever," said Kanow.

The DRC has in the past seen large outbreaks of Marburg and Ebola,
both haemorrhagic fevers caused by viruses that in severe cases attack
the central nervous system and cause bleeding from the eyes, ears and
other parts of the body.

The deaths began following the funeral of 2 village chiefs.  "Everyone
that attended those funerals is now dead," said the medical inspector.
According to Kanow, haemorrhagic fever is transmitted by contact
with an infected person.

In all, 4 villages are affected and 217 people have come down with the
illness.
Of the 103 recorded deaths, 100 were adults and 3 were children, said Kanow.
