I think the criticism of “crescent” is overblown, but agree with the criticism of the monument being overblown, as most monuments are these days.

It’s like we have to out-do ourselves to prove our “sympathy” with the victims. A simply structure would suffice.

I suppose nobody here eats “crescent rolls”.

The problem you've identified is that we happen to be sharing the planet with these other people.

I propose you take care of that problem first, and just leave the folks who find a need to build a memorial alone.

The movie, “United 93” was an outstanding testimony of their bravery.

Perhaps the 4 unmarked blocks will collect “donations” that express visitors’ level of “respect”. Sort of like we expect for Jimmy Carter’s gravesite.
