The neighbor across the road took his beautiful little pine down after it died but the neighbor over the hill doesn’t rake his leaves that accumulate against *my* fence, much less bother with taking down the diseased trees near my property line.
If he doesn’t care about the deer ticks he’s plaguing my dogs with, he’s not going to care about borer beetles, either.
*So far*, none of my trees up in the pine barren have been affected, thank God.
AFAIK, nothing does. They aren't native, so there isn't a native predator for them.
Even the fish won't eat 'em.
This is a very serious problem, here in our area we have this “Ash borer” thing, it’s killing them all ...
Bark beetles seem to like willow around here but they don’t kill the trees. What kills the trees is the woodpeckers going after the bark beetles.
[What eats bark-beetles?]
Fire does.
