Hard to believe that our laws are so impotent to deal with somebody who is an obvious threat.

If being an "obvious threat" was a viable reason legally to act in the United States today, and still satisfy Constitutional guarantees, we would neither have any illegal Mexicans in our country, nor a single visiting or student muslim.

That's the fatal flaw in the whole thought crime/hate crime fallacy.

Justice can demand punishment for actual behavior, not for thinking or drawing a crude picture of a gun, for example.
