Mine too...my stomach heaves.
But I do believe we need to listen.
Where is your Marine there DAD?
There’s only one real response to this kind of self-censorship and self-loathing. We must, as a people, rise up and mock Islam fearlessly and forcefully.
We can start with their self-righteous worldview that it is good behavior to stifle speech when they’re annoyed. We can show cartoons where women in burkas flash that they’re wearing thongs and bikinis underneath. We can show confused Moslems in a fast-moving space shuttle trying to determine the direction to Mecca as it changes from second to second. Zippy the Pinhead can welcome Islamic terrorists to a barbecue featuring ribs and beer. Above all, mock them with their own stupidity, like the Palestinians who tried to set up a car bomb but refused to switch over to Israeli daylight savings time, thereby killing themselves instead when the bomb went off one hour early.
I’m doing my part to make sure that anytime sometime tells me about Islamic tradition, I remind them this is a religion where people are forced to walk around a meteorite several times at least once a lifetime, and it’s founder had sex with a nine-year-old girl. I also like the idea that homosexuality is illegal in Saudi Arabia, but it isn’t considered homosexuality as long as the guy on the bottom acts like a woman.
Think of this as the Cheyanne would, as “counting coup.” Every mocking comment, every cheap laugh, every nasty joke, is just another light touch to remind them of their own inadequecy.
thanks. :)
I remember Berke’s famous “hunting liberals” strip, but IIRC about 99.8% of his strips were lib.
That may be true. OTOH, he is one of the very few liberals I can read and laugh at even as he skewers some of my own ideals. I think it's because in general, he is a classic political cartoonist. There is humor in spades, but very little animosity malice or cruelty.
A rare thing in any cartoonist.
