We are in interesting times.

The people who really want to kill us, are protected. Those who built the civilization, and reviled.

God said the Gates of Hell will not prevail against the Church, but He didn’t say that Western civilization would stand.

I fear that we have been weighed, and found wanting. The Torch of the Word, and of Civilization, is going out in the West.

For decades, I've always expected the persecution of Christians to begin in earnest once Billy Graham dies.

Persecution in Communist countries always began in the press. It will be no different here.

Well, it did not exactly follow the pattern. There was no Christian with a gun, and no gross caricatures. There were a few Christians I could not recognize: a left-wing megachurch, an environmentalist evangelical (Presbyterian? A lot of people around him wore clerical robes). I expected and got a predictably uberliberal made for TV female professor of divinity. The rock-n-roll youth pastor was hilarious. There was not a single Catholic, — I feel left out. There was no simple, thoughful, solid, middleclass, small town Baptist church, which, to me, represents the bulk of Protestant America, of which, despite my online Catholic militance I know and love quite a bit. Instead all her Christians came across as touched with nuttiness.

There was, no surprise there, a strong secularist overtone through it. Conservative Christians were shown either dangerously sectarian, like the homeschooling family, or scheming with Newt Gingrich, or poisoning the minds of the teens. The leftist Christians were, of course, the darlings of the film: articulate, heroically misunderstood, pleasantly hip.
