Well that is a risk that people who own agressive dogs have to undertake. I'll tell you a true story from around here (greater Atlanta) about a year or two ago. A woman's pit bulls (no they weren't a golden retrievers mistaken for pit bulls) were attacking a child. A neighbor or relative of the child (I forget which) came to the aid of the child with a .357. At that point the dog owner who was watching the child being attacked attacked the guy who was shooting the dogs screaming "Don't hurt my dogs." He shot her too. He WAS NOT CHARGED, but he didn't kill her.
Not concerned, more amused, but don't want to be thought of as too credulous - and unless static IP address that won't do any good.
I hope to God I’m never in such a situation. Mrs. Chan and I don’t allow our son to go unsupervised, even in our home, so the odds of him being attacked by a dog are low.
We’re boring middle-class folk here at Chez Chan. I’m a peaceful, dull, law-abiding type myself. I’ve never had to point a weapon in anger at a human being or animal, and I pray I never have to.
But if I have to, I will.
This is all too typical of dog owners.
Good. The lady should have been charged with attempted murder for not doing anything to stop her dogs.
She was charged with something, but I'm not sure what. It wasn't attempted murder. Assault on the guy with the gun, maybe? Having public nusance animals? I just don't remember.
AR: I'm sure you couldn't...
Why not? Many have.
AR: Very disappointing. Having read some other posts by you I figured you for an intelligent person. (near extinction at FR)
If you were a little more specific perhaps I could clarify. (Your ad hominem not withstanding.)
It's not like them becoming extinct would disrupt some fragile ecosystem. They don't fill any niche any other dog couldn't fill.
I dont recall EVER saying “my dog would/could never do that”
I think you have me mixed up with someone else.
Maybe not the exact words, but isn't that the sentiment you expressed with the picture of the dog with the child? That you obviously trusted the dog to be with the child? If it isn't then I'm misreading what you're trying to say.
yeah please run an IP check
Nope not at all what I was trying to show.
But it doesnt matter anyway your going to think what you want.
I feel the same way with one difference. I won’t act out of uncontrolled anger. I’m patient, thorough and efficient. If through ignorance or arrogance someone exposes me or mine to grave danger I will not be sympathetic to their rationalizations.

Another dog attack. Mastiff Terrier. I’m not familiar with what kind of breed they are, except I know that they’re big.

Hmmmm......this is a re-write from the original news story this morning. Original said “pit bul”. So much (again) for accuracy in reporting.
They said pit bull on their TV news also. Whatever happened to news you can trust? ;)
Paul Harvey’s still around......
:) Guy’s gotta be about ninety by now!
No - Bad...must have been a very poor shot. A clear case of needing more gun control...
