Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it’s Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it’s Turkish delight on a moonlit night
Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you’ve a date in Constantinople
She’ll be waiting in Istanbul
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can’t say
People just liked it better that way

Muslim cleric says call a turkey a "turkey" is an offense to muslimsShould turkey hunters be concerned that calling a turkey might also offend muslims?
By the way, that headline doesn't read quite right.

The country of modern day Turkey was call the Ottoman Empire clear up to WWI. In fact, the Ottoman Empire was not replaced by the Republic of Turkey until 1923....The bird Turkey was call as such before even the American Revolution. The Spaniards brought the Turkey back to Europe. The Aztecs having domesticated the animal for many generations prior to the Spanish arrival. Thought to by Columbus' translator, Luis de Torres, a Jew who converted the day before sailing. He first saw the bird and thinking it was a peacock, referred to it as tuki, peacock in Hebrew. He's also credited by many with being the first white man to set foot on the America's since the Norwegians, and also identifying tobacco.

Question 4246 from United States Answer 4246 We have studied the background of Thanksgiving day- to express gratitude to the favours of the natives of the 16th century. IN principal to express gratefulness and gratitude for favours rendered is encouraged. However, Thanksgiving being a national holiday express its salient position in the American culture, which has many unislamic values and principles. Celebrating Thanksgiving purposefully or subordinately is an expression of accepting the general American Culture. It is not celebrated independent of the American Culture. In view of the above it is not permissible to celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
Gee, why, it couldn't be true that some of our newest citizens come here absolutely and resolutely committed to not assimilating or respecting our culture. And even for some who might be confused, why, they wouldn't take their cue from someone hostile to our culture, would they? No, surely that would never happen. /oozing sarcasm
Even those who come wishing to appear to assimilate, if not actually assimilate, are dissuaded from doing so. And yet we are told we have nothing to be concerned about... I am hard pressed to think of an immigrant group who came here fully intending to NOT assimilate to our culture and instead to attempt to change us. And it's hard to think of a time in history when we would have just let that slide as a 'multicultural' gesture without taking some action - until now.

We should be sensitive to these claims and help all Muslims band together for a protest. They should all leave the US until we rename the bird. Who wants to contribute to help these peace loving folks participate in the demonstration?
