My queue is basically empty. I can't find enough movies that I'll watch, and by family agreement we do not watch R rated moves.
Every movie I have rented has been a stinker. Can't BHollywood make anything decent anymore?
Interesting. They grandfathered me with the new plans. I keep my existing plan, unlimited in-store exchanges, 1 e-coupon a month. If I change plans though, then I go to the new system, but until then, I keep the same old plan.
Oh, and the other reason to avoid Netflix, is 100% of their political donations go to Democrats.
Trust me ... you'll wonder why you sat through so many movies that did nothing for you.
I don’t see what the big deal is. If they said, “We’ll provide this service for the rest of your life” then I could understand, but are they never allowed to change the price? What if inflation goes up 100% next year? Does it still have to be $19? Would you rather they went broke giving away so many movies, and the stores had to shut down but you never had to pay more for the service? It’s not communism, you have a choice. So cancel.
I remember Blockbuster’s very first store at Preston/Royal in Dallas 25 years ago or so. I worked for them briefly after college about the same time.
Proud to be a Netflix customer now.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but I always use that RedBox service they have in McDonalds and in large grocery stores. They charge a dollar a day, plus tax, for every movie they offer. The have new releases stocked fairly well, and they also offer some general older films.
The cons are that you have to use a credit/debit card, but I prefer this method anyway. Once they run out, they run out. No guarantees you will get any movie. They have a much smaller selection than a movie store.
Outside of that, I found it to be the best choice for me. I just like to rent two to five movies a month usually, so it ends up being like 2.15 - 5.50 or something for the month.
even after the Blockbuster change to unlimited exchanges via mail and 5 in-store exchanges, you can easily get more than 20 movies per month and it costs less than $20 per month. I don’t know many folks more frugal than me and i don’t intend to complain about this change.
According to a Form 4, Shepherd sold 40.2 per cent, or about 284,000 shares of his Class A Blockbuster stock on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing his remaining holdings to 421,666 shares.
Zine, who announced earlier this year that he will retire in December, sold about 200,000 Class A shares or 46 per cent of his stake on Wednesday and Thursday, according to a separate filing. He now holds 232,278 shares of Class A, the filing showed.
A Blockbuster spokesperson had no immediate comment on the reason for the large sell-offs. Blockbuster shares rose 10 per cent this week, closing up 3.1 per cent at $4.65 on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday.
Check with your local library, they have DVD's you can check out for free.......
I don’t rent movies.
Is this really FR material?
Since I’m not a big movie buff, Netflix has the only deal I like. Two movies a month for $5.00, hard to beat. And since my public library is now carrying so many DVDs, if I must pay for it with my tax dollars, I might drop Netflix altogether.
The worst part of this change for me is that they eliminated their “e-coupons”. Those were good for video games as well as movies, and meant I could rent one game free each month.
The plans no longer have that free game rental, instead you can use your movie exchanges to get a “reduced price” game rental.
On the other hand, I have to admit the current plan I was on was too good to be true. I was paying $5.99 a month. I got 2 movies a month in the mail, and two in-store exchanges, PLUS a free game rental each month — that’s a total of $23 of rentals each month for six bucks.
They now want me to pay $7.99 for that program, which I would gladly pay if it still had the e-coupon. But it doesn’t, so I’ll probably drop the program, at least for a while.
I’ll say this. When I signed up for the program months ago, there was ONE movie my kids wanted me to get, it’s an old Caspar movie, I put it at the top of my queue, sometimes it was the ONLY movie in my queue. For months it said it was “available”, but I NEVER recieved it, ever.
Once I went two weeks not receiving ANY movie when Caspar was the only movie in my queue and showed “available”.
So it looks like I’ll be cancelling the program having NEVER received the movie I wanted.
Still, since I didn’t pay in advance for months of service, I hardly mind that Blockbuster has decided they don’t want my business — it’s their company, they can offer me whatever they want or don’t want.
I canceled my subscription yesterday. I told them that this was the only reason why.
